I have just had notification that 3 for 99 will hit my area in October. According to the blurb, this will be on verts and rollers (discontinued fabric). I am told that this is to be used as an opportunity to "sell up" rather than to sell these fabrics. I dont know about other areas, but here money is tight and most of my customers are more concerned about "how much" rather than "how good". I recently went to see a customer who told me that 4 blinds in the Clouds 2 for £99 was too expensive.

Sorry but if they can get a cheaper service than that then they are welcome to it.
It's cheaper than argos !
Not defending the promotion as I have yet to be told about it myself ( no communication again ! )

Know what you mean, they told me that they bought DIY verticals from some well known warehouse for £80. You know the type, extending headrail, cut louvres to length. Told them I'd see them in 6 months when they fall apart, lol

Is there any way we can get out of going on these types of calls. I live in a large rural area and two for £99 did not cover my costs! Wayne

FSM has said she believes only 2 % of conversions will be for new promo then quotes massive increase in leads but neglects to say what lead conversion is like and has already informed all s.wales advisors that their appointments are being increased as of 3 october, this is very rural county often travel 80 - 100 miles on evening calls seeing 5 people looking forward to paying to work for hillarys----( I forgot I am self employed ) LOL

Just to stop the confusion. "4 for 99" will finish this week and will not be running in October. We are intending to launch a "3 for 99" offer in some counties (only a few of the counties with the current "4 for"). This offer will use better quality fabrics and we are using different fabrics across the country to manage stock levels.
I would be really dissappointed if advisors are calling customers to check out if they are a "4 for 99" customer. I am afraid that they are missing opportunities left, right and centre. Just because someone is attracted by an offer doesn't mean that they will walk out with that fabric. More importantly what does it say about you and Hillarys if you ring customers up and say that your not coming because "it's not worth it." This is the same arguement I get about Roller customers. If you go in expecting a customer to buy a roller blind, you often don't give the customer the opportunity to trade up or buy more blinds than she was expecting.
Yes you will meet customers who only want to spend 99 pounds, yes there will be some calls that you (and us) will not break even. But this promotion is doubling (Yes and more so in some counties) the level of leads. Now I believe that you are all better at selling than you make out, because I see the results.
Treat every appointment as an opportunity to increase the sale:
- don't lead with the offer (seriously they might have even forgotton about it, or by the time they raise the question set their heart on a different fabric) - run through the sales habits (show them the brochure, show them the range etc)
It won't work every time, but it will work and you and I will make money, in this very difficult trading environment. Something, I can guarantee some of our competitors are not doing (some have reported that they have not sold any verticals since our promotion hit!).

Well, 3 for 99 has been a resounding success (sic) in this area. Started today. Made sure I had plenty of slots, even increased my availability. How many extra, correction, how many leads have I got ---- exactly none. Got a few fitting appoints later this week, but nothing from sales

utter waste of time, too soon after the last cr#p offer ,have been asked only once for this and then she went for clouds.I hate to think what next offer is(free shopping trip in the agents car and he will wait )because he's got nothing better to do than play jawbreaker.surely with the rush due soon for xmas how about an offer encouraging blinds to be used as presents or buying for wedding presents etc, only an idea or two.what customers want is a real special offer.

Sound like good ideas to me. I dont really like selling "CHEAP" blinds.

Yes.... we got our 3 for £99 stuff in the post today. 3 Acacia Rollers for £99 in choice of 12 colours 3 Venetian Blinds for £99 in choice of 12 colours We are expected to "sell up" from £33 each? Hillarys DO tell us not to offer any further discount on this offer under any circumstances.... ;D ;D ;D So what do we say when they produce a voucher offering 10% or 20% off their next order when the vouchers say, and I quote... "this is in addition to all current advertised discounts" Can't wait. This should help with the lead effect figures.
