several months ago i adopted the policy of doing a dor on all products because of the amount of free repairs we having to do ,this latest admission of the crap they are sending out ;this due to incorrect tension on the blind- but is easy to fix; where is the quality control, what happened to the quality company we used to be ,this is what happens when big busines takes over only the greed of the shareholders counts for anything cut costs at any price make a profit then sell us on to another greedy bunch of shareholders before you know where are there won,t be a company left, well done shareholders.

Hillarys---You want me to fix your crappy blinds?? I have posted back today--without a stamp, your packet of split balls.?? Shove them where the sun don't shine.!!!!!!!!! I am a sales fitter not a b****y repair man.... Every wrong blind will be DOR'd and if it happens on a 3 for £99 I will NEVER fix it..... Dodgybracket Isn't it remarkable how quiet Hereticus and his merry band are on this issue? Could they have been having dialogue with the inmates at the Colwick madhouse, as all communications are open and honest now?? How open and honest is asking agents to fix cocked-up blinds for free? Come on Hereticus whose side are you on? I suggest you produce the goods, or alternatively get off the potty??

The whole idea of getting us to repair ANY product on-site that should have gone through a proper manufacturing procedure & 'quality control' is a joke!!!
What Hillarys are missing here is a simple thing called the 'Sale of Goods Act' which states that the product sold must be 'fit' for the purpose & must be of 'Saleable quality'. This phrase is useful when complaining to ANY shop/supplier that has not supplied/sold you a product fit for the job. Once you have quoted this phrase it is the DUTY of that supplier to rectify your grievance.
Does this mean headrails should come to us correctly made? ... Absolutely!!!!!!
It is Hillarys DUTY to rectify this problem as a matter of urgency.
What they are doing is in breach of their B.S & ISO Certification as well as the afore mentioned 'Sale of Goods Act'.
The Trading Standards Agency could have a 'field day' with them over these types of issues!!!!!

Bear posted the following remark yesterday :
''Hereticus--were you behind this--did you volunteer us to supply free labour to get free paper allegedly.?? ''
I strongly resent the implication and will treat this ill advised remark with the contempt that it truly deserves. Nobody is 'doing deals' with Hillarys, and nobody is selling out. I and others have worked hard on behalf of advisors in general, and still have faith that we are getting somewhere - others have hidden behind pseudonyms and slagged us off at every oppurtunity. How pathetic !
I haven't even seen a Delta 7 headrail yet but fully agree with the general feeling on this forum. The headrail design sounds like a serious backward step in terms of quality and if they can't even manufacture them correctly why are they continuing the roll out. I have no intention of correcting sloppy manufacture and will DOR every Delta 7 headrail which is not functioning correctly at the time of fit.
I still believe that we are making progress with Hillarys on many issues, but this one does illustrate that they still haven't taken our message fully on board. Get the product right before launch and apply proper quality control procedures in production - don't expect us to put right your failings at our expense.

What on earth is all the fuss about. The way I see it is either you fix them on site and save yourself the hassle of a return trip or you dont. Easy as that. I did not even think about it when they arrived. Surely we have bigger issues to consider than split ball replacement. Why are we going off on a tantrum over such a small issue? We are loosing touch with the bigger issues here like security of area and the bringing in of other agents, Diary booking problems, Commission claw backs and so on. Surly split ball replacement takes a much lower president than any of the above.

The problem with this new headrail has been building up since the initial roll out. Someone obviously realizes that they won't be able to deal with the amount of dor's that going to hit the fan once the roll outs complete. So the "quick win" for management is to get the foot soldiers to do the job for them-at no cost. Brilliant idea mr X and you get to keep your production bonus safe to boot!
All advisor's have to take the same stance on this issue before it's too late. We all have to send this "DEFECTIVE ON RECEIPT" back where it belongs - with the production team.

Red Red....yes, of course there are bigger issues and, when you consider that only a small proportion of headrails will require adjustment anyway, perhaps we are in danger of overstating the importance of this. However, when we are still trying to get resolution on the many major issues, we must also keep an eye open for new issues which could later become major problems. We were lied to about the quality of wooden venetians until evenually this forum and the seminars got the message across, then the problem was acknowledged, corrective measures taken, and now we are receiving better product. If we can nip this one in the bud by taking a firm stance from the outset then perhaps we can avoid it becoming an ongoing matter of contention. How difficult can it be to train manufacturing staff to build the headrails properly, and to make quality control take responsibility for ensuring that only decent product gets out of the factory ? Surely this is basic stuff, a complete no-brainer.

The problem is, as I see it, when a company is gripped by accounts and the like they see maybe 5 people who are paid solely to deal with quality control. These people are assigned to deal with and check quality on the shop floor. So an accountant sees 5 wages totaling around 75k a year that can be saved by passing quality control responsibilities to the shop floor worker. This does not work and is a false economy as many a company has found out in the past but it still happens. Accountants would spend a pound to buy a fishing rod to hook out 10p from the gutters as it would look good on paper. It is only when the muck hits the fan further down the line that it is proved to be a false economy. That is where Hillary's are at now.

I spoke to some geezer who was our 1/4ly meeting who was on the board, and i told him all the issues it would bring up and he said he would be in washington the next day to tell everyone. so its just a bloody waste of time and energy. let them get on with it, I know what i will be doing before long.

Do the repair on site, then DOR the headrail, when the replacement arrives keep it as spares.
That way you do not have to go back to replace the headrail, but still do the DOR, HO then know that the headrail was faulty and have the expense of making another one. Soon they would get the message and quality would go up.
The grub screws on the headrail are no problem, but messing around with these splitballs are a no no.

Oh d**n it. I can't help it, you have me wondering, now where's that packet yes, lets see, 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20. You're right, I have 20 as well. Well they are consistant with that then.

While agreeing with your post, may I also say that BS/ISO certification just verifies that the stated standards of the company are met and audit trails are in place to aid verification. If a company states that they will manufacture a product, say a 1m measure, with a tolerance of 10%, and they produce that 1m measure that is only 99cm or 101cm long, then they have met there quality standard. Not that that measure would be any d**n good as "fit for purpose". But it may be a good idea to ask BSI/ISO regulators to do an audit. In fact are Hillary's still a BS/ISO company?
