Red No £1 a month wouldnt hurt me, its the principal. Do you not agree with my opinion then. Any job i know of where you dont perform youre out on youre ear. In a way its the advisors that pay staffs salaries (and bonuses). Owl I do agree with your saying that People not doing the job properly should be dealt with by Hillary. What I am proposing is to reward the people that do an outstanding job for all the advisors. Thereby creating a feeling of wanting to get this bonus. I am just trying to show that we are not all moaners and want to do something positive to build our relationship with head office staff and I think this would be a good way of doing it. It would not be compulsory, you would have to sign a slip saying you authorize the deduction from your pay so you could opt out, but the more that opt in the higher the reward would be for the nominated person, with a bigger incentive comes a higher want to succeed. We know this as when the bonus for most of the advisor's went we did not try as hard anymore, so lets do something positive. We can not expect to just demand and or ask for things to be done for us if we can not show that we are willing ourselves. Red dont we want to succeed and be succesfull then Red. What incentives do we have then, explain that to me 1st

Red, I agree that a monthly incentive, paid by us agents at a £1 each, would help to improve standards and moral. As it is some hq staff are disinterested and think that we don't appreciate there efforts, but they generally do a good job.
Dawn in Commissions, obviously does a good job, and just recently, Dean in quotes, has been very helpful, as have some of the longer serving members of advisor support (customer care).
My delivery driver is also a very reliable bloke.

agree with your comments blind scout, well said. Red your idea in principle is good and motivation of the workforce is a good thing, BUT Hillary's management must be rubbing there hands thinking we will pay a BONUS to there work force to supply what should be a GOOD QUALITY PRODUCT in the first place, b***ocks to that. Hillary's first priority should be to get a good quality system in place and pay the monkeys (no offense) more than peanuts. Oh! and stop clawing back commission paid to agents, this has got to be unlawful. . Glen

It is about showing the people who do give a d**n and help us out with whatever problems we may have that we are grateful and hopefully cultivate a more helpfull attitude from more at head office whilst also showing a lead to Hillary's what can be achieved. God there are so many of you negative people out there its no wounder Hillary's think we are a moaning lot. They will never listen to us seriously if we keep moaning about our lot. This is a positive chance to show we can also do good things. Red

Hillarys should appreciate your excellent idea, but it is Hillarys who should provide the money not us. Allright £1 is nothing, it is the principle that is wrong. I did a top notch job fitting a house full of Romans, fault on one blind ended up with customer getting a 2 grand order for 500 quid, hence i lost commission, for doing my job perfectly. I know success breeds success, and negativty likewise, but imagine this then. Hillarys in their next newsletter say, "due to a brilliant idea from one of our Advisors, we are now to provide an incentive to all head office staff, due to our d.o.r. levels significantly being reduced, and invoice errors being reduced ,etc, etc, etc, we are able to fund an incentive scheme to reward good standard of workmanship, and quality of customer and advisor care> we feel this will boost the morale of all our advisors, to further enable us to build our ever growing business. We are to launch a similar reward/ incentive scheme for all advisors, who provide a constant level of good business and customer care. This we hope will ensure good team spirit, throughout the company, top to bottom" I think this is what we should be hearing, not us paying them, it like emotional black mail If and when i see John Risman I will put this idea to him personally, not hiding behind names on here. Face to bloody face. Thats my view on it. I am all for positivity, but come on, are we not allready being positive by building our businesses from nothing to 20 and 30 grand a month. now with our hands tied behind our back.

Now can I go and spend my £1 somewhere else please?
Like I said.. get real, this is a non starter!

Hi Red, I see it as constructive criticism, and I already said I agree with your idea in principle, you said "if enough people agree with this then I will look deeper into this" About 50/50 at the minute I would say, and £1 a month would not break the bank, WHY not have a monthly prize for all in company via the mis-measure fines instead? ?? Us Brits like moaning it makes the world go round my friend, MOAN MOAN MOAN MOAN MOAN BLAH BLAH BLAH ;D Glen

Its only a non starter if you let it be. I have seen this scheme in operation run by a Japanese company, it takes vision to see the merits. It is also meant to point Hillary's in the right direction. Any way. I am fed up answering negative feedback, and having to justify the idea to every neg adviser. I will press ahead regardless and if its a no goer then its a no goer and at least I know I tried to do something positive. I dont see many other ideas comeing forward except me, me ,me, my commision this my commission that. For crying out loud, its £1. Red

I have been a member of this forum since it started and read with interest all of the comments. I do not normally post replys as i find most of the chat negative however having said that there is also a lot of good information to be picked up from on the site. I applaud motters for starting this site and all of the people who help him run it.
I feel i have to reply to this one and no i don't want to be negative but i agree totally with owl and farmer, they get paid to do a job, if they perform well Hillarys should reward them and if they don't do so well they should be trained, coached and disclipened as appropriate. £1 is not a lot of money but like they have said it is the principle, If you are full time advisor doing 20k + I would have thought some proportion of that would have been self generated were is the extra incentive for us for that, unless of course you have been an advisor for a long time and you are on some sort of bonus scheme which i do understand has reduced dramatically over recent years. I have spoken with a couple of advisors who went to one of the forums and they said Hillarys were taking things on board, I would like to wait and see what the outcome of them are.

Nice to hear from you Osram. Thanks for putting in to words what I have been saying. That there are advisor's out there that will not post because of the overwhelming negativity each day. I am listening to what you are saying. It is constructive and in no way derogatory of anyone. This is the way it should be. Red

I would be happy to donate a small monthly amount as a bonus incentive, if Hillarys discontinue with their crazy system of deducting from our commission, any extra percentage discounts they offer to customers, to atone for HQ errors.

A positive idea with good motives. If enough are interested I will give it a go, but, without wishing to appear negative, I have my doubts. We will be offering an incentive to people to do what they should be doing anyway, their jobs. Their employers should be offering them incentives (stick or carrot) How do we ensure that the greatest number of people get the opportunity to win the prize, we only have regular contact with a few of them. What about the " unsung heroes " who we never hear about, might they come to resent the apparent lack of appreciation of their efforts while others they consider less deserving are winning prizes. Why not build up a rapport with those we deal with by treating them with respect, consideration and patience and making sure that they are aware of our appreciation of their efforts as often as possible, by thanking them there and then. Remembering also that they cannot always help us as much as they would like because of the need to involve others or keep to parameters that have been set for them. I generally found this approach to work very well during my years in management with nearly everybody responding positively to it.

Tarpil You wrote, We will be offering an incentive to people to do what they should be doing anyway, their jobs. Their employers should be offering them incentives (stick or carrot).
Is this not what we are asking for ourselves. IE, a better bonus and fairer one, more commission for fitting roof blinds, etc, etc. Red

Hi Everyone, I agree with Osram on this, including the reasons for posting or not. Not all of us are "posting types", but that does not mean we are apathetic about the issues raised. I also have my list of gripes, or otherwise, and, in the main, find them well expressed by many of the regular posters. How about this one then................instead of subsidising a promotion that should be run by the company........we reward/recognise an Advisor, with cash or not, for "Posting of the Month.", the criteria being that the posting represents an issue/problem/idea that, if taken seriously by the company, benefits us all. Then........ if we wish to nominate a deserving member of HO for their efforts ( I find most of my dealings positive, cough, cough - excuse me.......), then perhaps we could give "official" Advisor recognition on this site. After all, if HO are reading our contributions on this site, it would be receiving an honest and transparent view from ourselves of how we perceive the efforts of staff members, or departments. Or, have a "feedback" section of the site where Advisor members could post feedback for different departments ( a la Ebay?).........no money involved but a hard hitting, positive or otherwise, response from us that is available to all at HO to see and hopefully, respond to. It would also allow us less-active posters to us this facility whilst keeping our preferred lower involvement/ profile. This would for example, put the wooden venitians dept squarely in the frame as being in need of serious attention. Anyway just a thought............. I suppose this makes me a mainstream "poster" now.......................Damnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!
