It's true ... THEY can't come up with anything better!!!! .... but funnily enough, WE'VE been giving ideas on here that WOULD work!!!!!!!
It's just their stubborness, arrogance & cravings for power that will not allow them to agree with our knowledge & better understanding of this business.
We'll just continue down this same old worn-out destructive path!!!!
99 for 3p is here to stay!!!!

what satnav software is best for our pdas and is it possible to download it from the net? its called an a to z available from whsmiths and all good newsagents or multimap available on the tinternet, doesn't send you down dirt tracks or get you lost. why any of us need satnav amazes me we don't go far enough. what will you all do if the fools at sillarys decide to change our pda's just as you have put satnav on it,you will have to buy another. don't think they wont because if the contract date with vodaphone is about up they may want to upgrade us to an even better pda and tie us into another lucrative (for them)contract

Errr, using the current PDA for satnav, and the new one for SAM, springs to mind. But that may be a thought too far for you. Surprised you actually buy street maps, what's up with the free ones from estate agents?

what satnav software is best for our pdas and is it possible to download it from the net? Royt, I use tomtom on the pda because I don't want the hassle of carting 2 separate units around. If I had a dedicated satnav unit, I'd tend to leave it on the dashboard on occasions, and it wouldn't last long in some of the places I visit. www.handtech.co.uk do the software and UK maps for £80, plus you need a gps receiver, I use their ThinkNAVI PDA GPS Speaker Cradle which fits nicely on an air vent grid or windscreen. Don't know if tomtom is better than any of the others, but make sure you get full 7 digit postcode search, it take you the customers door.

Satnav is great !
I bought mine six months ago and for one reason only - speed camera detection ! I've picked up a few points (at 35 mph) and needed to protect my licence and my job.
However, once I got it I started to use it for navigation as well and found it superb at finding houses with names rather than numbers - much of my territory is rural and there are some long roads with hundreds of houses without numbers. Putting in the postcode generally gets me within thirty yards of the property, and often takes me right to the door, so is a great time saver and especially so after dark.
I bought the stand alone Tom Tom 510, and I also recently downloaded the maps for Iberia so that I could land at Malaga airport, stick my satnav in the hire car, and get taken straight to my destination.
Not everyone would benefit from satnav, and many can't justify the cost, but if you do get one I predict you will never go back.
When mobile phones first came out - remember the jobbies the size of house bricks - I was amongst the Luddites who thought they would never catch on ! Now there are more mobiles in the UK than people, and none of us would leave the house without one. I also thought the CD would never replace vinyl, but I do accept that satnav beats maps (though I still carry maps as a back up - once a boy scout, always a boy scout).
