Had the same thing happen to me today. Some idiot at CLG quoted customer £40 for a window and then told her she could have 50% off that

Wood venetians quoted at metal price with 25% discount by CLG. Customer very meticulous and had it all written down - don't doubt her for one second. Actual price worked out at about double so not interested (could be blessing in disguise!!)

Had one of these too last Thursday!!
Customer had conservatory 17m X 8m & was told by CLG she could have it done for £349 any fabric even though x8 verticals minimum would be necessary.
I was accused of being a liar when I explained it was for a 3m X 3m conservatory! All this from a customer I have quoted for on several occasions & who has always bought elsewhere. She even wanted me to measure up & leave the sizes!!!
Needless to say I walked out!!
When is Hillarys & CLG going to realise that they can't quote over the phone ... it is counter productive??!!!
I've never worked with a company in the direct selling business before that gives prices or promises over the phone!!!
It just does NOT WORK!!!
IDIOTS!!!!!!!

Make sure you report all these waste of times to CLCTeamLeaders@hillarys.co.uk. Include the customer number and description of the problem. They can look into it as most calls are recorded I believe.

Had the same thing happen to me today. Some idiot at CLG quoted customer £40 for a window and then told her she could have 50% off that Had one last evening where the customer had measured in inches( What are them, then?) and had given it to CLG who had quoted a price and said discount available!!! Turns out----- 1 He had measured wrong ( He had got 4 feet and 10 toes and it measured 5 feet and 10 toes (or whatever is still being used in this one of Europes larger offshore English speaking islands!) and 2 CLG quoted in 50mm venetians !! Their price £38.00 with possibility of a discount ( 22 mile round trip!) and the price of what he wanted in Silver 25mm was £122.00 with no chance of a discount.. It appears that CLG are being pressed to make appointments in any way they can to get us appointments, then we can be blamed for not converting. So making Hillarys look good and us look poor--- "Its the Hillarys way!! We will be checking later today to verify exact instructions given --- Nonails

If CLG want to give a price when pressed by a customer , then why not give a price RANGE. "Starting at x and going up to y, Madam, you pay for what you get--ask your agent for details about the fantastic discount now on offer!" "You will appreciate we cannot do an accurate pricing over the fone-there may be fitting considerations" If I sold at the price they quoted, in many cases I would have my area "whotsit" on my neck for huge discounts, but mostly I would walk away as instead of priming the customer for a sale, what in fact they are doing is priming the customer for a disappointment. And priming the Agent for a loss in time and money.... Has anyone EVER gone into a sales call and quoted LESS than was suggested by the CLG muppets? ? We need someone with a Direct selling brain in Notttingham, sadly we are stuck with the ones with white socks and the "boil-in-the-bag" suits Ah well, thank heavens for the 2nd job.. Dodgybracket

I thought we were not actively promoting the 2 for 99 offers. Then how come CLG are telling customers about it. Have just been to one customer who said she was expecting to pay at least 200 pounds for 3 windows as she had used us before, but was told by CLG we could do it for 99 pounds. Come on CLG, help us out here. Stop telling people about the offers, if they ask then OK but this lady did not ask.

Hi one customer today told me,that she request an appointment on web, from this she got a message left on her mobil , saying someone would call on a given date, but if this was not suitable please phone and change, which in this case she did, even then nobody asked what product she was interested in. After measuring up 6 windows for ven, happy with price , tells me it will be 2 month as all the room were the blinds are for, are to be plastered/ tiled, she will ring when ready.even better left quote on SAM , so she will probably get a discount as well. so there you are guys we now make blind appoinment pardon the pun.

Filo, Go back into the quote <welcome screen>orderlist>quotes> and on the first blind, amend and add a manufacturing note, a remark to the effect of quote ok but waiting for building work expected in 2 months. Quotes dept should see that note and act accordingly. This was Kevin Beardsley advice a few weeks ago.

Filo!!! You worry me!!!! If the customer is having plastering & tiling done why would you measure so that a quote can be passed to H/O for converting & manufacturing? It is highly likely that your measurements will be too big for the new aperture!!! Don't forget! .... £7.50 for each error plus the discount from 'Customer Scare' with the relevant 'clawbacks'!! Better to cancel the SAM order & write on an order pad with approx sizes & give her your tel no. to ring when it's all finished.

Couldn't agree more, GP. You can enter all the details in to SAM if you want to use it for pricing and impressing customer, then just keep pressing back arrow until you get a message saying " Do you want to cancel this order?", press YES and quote is removed from SAM. When customer is ready, use the self gen function to recall customer details and take order. This is great now all customers are there. (Especially if you miss off a blind like I did recently )
