Fitted 3 woodens in a bay, all 3 had a different amount of slats on them. Despite putting "same room option" on the order and telling them they were in a bay.
Thats the 2nd time thats happened in 2 weeks, and muggins here spend 1/2 an hour taking slats out. Yes the customer did notice, before you ask why I did it.
Well no more, I'm not selling them either now!
Someone should lose there job over this fiasco. Except with the new mentality at Sillarys to cut cost at every opportunity especially when its to do with quality of product, and not managers wages, Marks pobably getting a pat on the back. In reality he should be gettiny a kick up the jacksy!
Here's a little note for the roller department...
When I put in special instructions that the sidewinder drop is to be 90 cm, I MEAN 90CM AND NOT 100CM BECAUSE YOU ARE TO LAZY TO DO YOUR JOB!!!!!!!
I thing its a case of too many chiefs and not enough indians.

I havent botherd with them since january, I just tell customers that we are having " production problems" & try to move them on to aluwoods at a discount of course........ By the time you have gone through all the slat widths available, and those suspended and discontinued, there is nothing left to sell anyway. Apart from the product being absolute rubbish now, how many orders have been lost because one window is over 2 metres? I could agree in the past, when they said the blind might not function properly, but this lot don't function at all, so what's the answer to that. A customer refused to pay Hillarys price ( absolutely right ) and bought from wooden-blinds-direct. They were cut down ones, which was done for her, and shipped in 3 days. All of them functioned, closed properly, looked fine and 75% cheaper. I think farmer has the right idea. Buy the wooden vens from elsewhere, at least they work properly.

HI just had to post this..........alan's just back from fitting 3 wood venetians.....all perfect and one very happy customer!
Also, I've got back to a message from an old gent who's recently had verticals fitted. Normal messages from customers with blinds fitted are negative but this was to say thank you to myself and Alan for our service and in particular my help in helping him choose the correct blind colour for his conservatory..bless.
I've also just got a box of roses from another old gent.......he may want them back tho when his blinds are fitted!
Times like these make the job worthwhile and give you a warm feeling inside! Shame I often feel chilly tho! ;D

ln a bay Sillarys have stated that they can not get the slats to line up, this is due to the different weight in different blinds. What a load of rubbish ( just like their wood vens). lts because they are made in China by lots of different china men/women at different times.
l just tell the customer that they are crap and the reason why. l always get thanked for telling them. Some order at their peril and some choose something else. And l usally get an order.

Had a call this afternoon which wasn't a sales call. It was a service call?? Haven't had one of those for a while. Wooden Venetians sticking, was the problem. How long have you had them in? I asked "About 3 weeks" they replied. "Who fitted them?!" I asked (Really crap fitting--2 screws per bracket--no central bracket on any, blinds all over 150cms wide!!) "Oh we did" They replied. Silence from me --question mark on my face? ? "We got them from WebBlinds which are Hillarys, so we rang up and said we had a problem, and Customer service said they would send someone out so here you are, so fix them please??"" "Sorry Wrong Company, says I, I work for Hillarys. You bought from WebBlinds." Good Bye. Before I got to the van , I heard the" f "word at least twice, b**t**d at least once , shower of w**k**s several times. Plus I will now complain about you personally to your MD. My reply was" Go ahead, Please do, and tell him exactly what happened , and tell him I said there is no chance of me ever going to do a service call here." I await a call from Colwick ( or that FSM thingy) and lets see what transpires , shall we. Have't posted much recently, as I am now losing interest fast in the whole thing.Sod it. I am now working for a Company which is totally different from the one I joined. No one listens, No one gives a toss, I keep trying to put helpful suggestions in, and get slapped, so I hoped the Forums would help, but that has been and had spin put on it by the lying suits and that has fallen on its face, and wasnt worth the time Hereticus and Co spent on it. And now I'm expected to do free service calls on WebBlinds. Thanks heavens its Friday Night Bear

Just had a call from Mick, my fitter, who is on his way back with 4 wooden blinds that were embarrassingly bad..... chipped, warped, different coloured valances, no hold down brackets etc etc. He has 19 to do in a house next week and has asked me to stop selling the things. He's also got the last Dors's (hopefully) to fit next week for a customer who ordered before Xmas! THEN, maybe we will get some commission. This was pre-extra DOR payment unfortunately.....
Now... around here...half the customers I go to want wooden blinds. I left a quote for 10 (2 bay windows) yesterday.
We have already lost the CN sides because we choose not to specialise in roofs. If we lose the woods too, I will just end up just selling rollers to old ladies in bathrooms....(which I will have to also stop due to the risk of damage to tiles and baths with the new PL thing). So, just 3 for £99's then!
Do you think HO are aware of these wood problems??
I will try and post some photos of the ones Mick is bringing back. I know YOU lot don't need to see them....but I think HO do!

i've just fitted 6 this morning. first one sits swinging in the breeze (the love who made it obviously thought my measurement was too long, or was trying to save the cost of an extra slat). second has 2 left side brackets. third just about acceptable. fourth valance has one end mitred the other squared (recess measurement). fifth valance cm too long needs cutting down, excessive stain all over slat ends. sixth no brackets. i haven't raised DOR's because customer took a glance at them and handed over credit card, i'm ashamed to say my own standards are slipping. Mark Lucas, perhaps you'd like to comment.

Just had a call from Mick, my fitter Joy, I thought Mick was your husband - does he realise that you have just downgraded him to casual labourer ?
