A sad day indeed, but due to all the crap I've delt with and the lack of leads ( quality ones at least ) I'm going part time from now on.
Maybe now the days I do will be filled up and the rest of the week I can continue to grow my ultraseal business which has had to prop up my bank balance over the last couple of months.
Not what I had planned, as I'm young enough to carry on for many years, but this is not a result of my own actions.
Give me good quality leads and I'll give them good orders. Pile up the crap and I'm working for next to nothing.

I think RED might be the expert on this one.... Hillarys are advertising in my local papers and putting leaflets out, saying that I am selling 3 blinds for £99! (This is news to me and my FSM, as it should not be in this area.) The trouble is....I don't know what these lovely fabrics are. Can someone enlighten me with the 4 worst colours. While Mick was fitting 5 verticals in a house this morning, the leaflet dropped through the door saying Hillarys do 3 for £99. The customer now insists I go back and show her what she'd missed out on, and wants to know why I didn't tell her about ths amazing offer in the first place! Shall I go? Shall I not?

Hi JoynMik
We had this problem recently too where the 3 for £99 was being advertised in our area when it shouldn't have been. I just refused to sell to the customer and told them to take it up with head office and get another advisor out if necessary.
Definately wouldn't go back round to your customer...........you sold to her in good faith when this offer wasn't on so it's hard luck to the customer!!
I've just had a great one this morning. Customer had moved and wanted a roman for her kitchen but nearly keeled over when quoted £230. "I was expecting it to be under £100. The last lot of blinds I bought from you for my old house were 2 for £99..........I'll just get my daughter to make me a Roman then!!"
On the other hand, just been to a house that has 2 conservatories!!! Sold aluwood venetians for £2616.........only take Alan about 1.5 hrs to fit so nice little earner that one.
Also got a £2100 order today for roof and verts for a small conservatory so things aren't looking that bad for us.
Alan did go back to doing his old job during the school hols and fitted for me on Friday's and weekends but I've still left my availability full time.
I suppose we're lucky that Alan has got a job to fall back if need's be but most of the work is during school hols and he's working in Schools!!

The thing is Joy and Mick, if you bought a television from Tesco for 300 quid and a few days later it went down to 200 quid Tesco would not give you the 100 quid back. It would be tough, this has happened to many of us during christmas, come the January sales and its 50% less than you paid. The shop would just tell you sorry. Dont get involved with these 3 for 99 offers anyway. They just run you ragged for no income. Not worth it.

HI ALL. I Dont wish to steal MOTTERS' thunder but from Monday i too am reducing my number of appts by 50%. This isnt to do with lack of work but the increasing frustration, stress and resentment that has crept into the job. I am lucky that Hillarys thrive in my area all year round even now while sadly many of you are struggling and as in the case of FARMER being treated disgustingly. This is not me gloating as i have great sympathy for those going through a hard time. Rest assured i will be attending Notts meeting on the 9th with a list of questions to ask whoever from Hillarys board dares to show their face. My FSM who has had an earbashing off me all week has agreed with me on the companys current situation. To MOTTERS i hope the new business brings great success. It will be Hillarys loss in the long run.

Sorry to hear that you are going part time .This has also happened to me ,at one time all I did was hillarys but now I have to have a second job(rapidly becoming my primary job). Maybe we can all get a job in the quotes dept because they seem unable to manage, has anyone had any quotes converted by them in the past year???. Any way best of luck in your new venture and if anyone wants to hire any limousines give me a call

The only problem I see by going part time 'oficially' is that Hillarys will just recruit another agent in your area. The problem is that due to the awful lead generation you are part time already! As far as I can see, Hillarys don't care how many agents they have in an area. If there are too many agents then they will work extra hard to secure a sale as they are hungry (actually ravenous!) for a sale. what they lose in discount they hope to gain in conversions. Very short sighted and very ruthless in the longevity of advisors and their careers.

sorry to hear your news Motters. the 3 for in my area has led to having to do twice as much work, providing the orders havent been cocked up, more calls on council estate-Provident credit type customers, know what I am talking about was a section manager for em once! also have an alternative stream of secondary income by sorting out new agent thingy ups spent 6+ hours sorting one out recently-lets see if I get more than comm for 3 for blinds & I might ask to go full time cockup solving!!!!! We will probably get the old soap of not the time & place at the October meetings though. a radical overhaul of direction is sadly needed or hillarys will cease to exist!

Thanks alot for the messages guys.
Strangley enough I've heard nothing from my own manager !
I tried to get through to him to let him know, but hey - you know the rest.
Regardless, I haven't had a reply to my message.
I know I'm not big time - around 12-15k per month, but I work alone and do sales/fits con roofs awnings etc.
I guess I have put the best part of 1million pounds in Hillarys coffers over the years- they just don't give a monkeys.
I'm a number, your a number and each new one they bring in will quickly become a number too !
I must say - I haven't quit - don't plan to either, but I have to put food on the table etc.
P.
ps - also look forward to seeing the '3k per month' advert in the local press soon !

Having once again made myself available for Hillarys today between 9am and 3pm, and once again not having a single appointment, I have just booked myself 2 weeks holiday! At least I can now make plans to get on with other stuff, instead of "waiting" for some sales. The only 2 I have in my diary for next week are in the grottiest part of town, and will no doubt be waving 3 for 99 leaflets, and adverts at me. (Which, by the way, is supposedly not available in this area, although every local paper has somehow got hold of the advert! - funny how that keeps happening! I don't believe Hillarys can be that incompetent ---- they are doing it intentionally and telling us porkies!! SAM is now on flight mode, and the phone on anwserphone. Bliss! Joy
