Already has lowered my expectations. I used to be thoroughly pee'd off if I sold clouds. As far as I was concerned I'd failed.
Now, it's [glow=red,2,300]WOOPPEE[/glow], I've sold up. Melissa and co will be so pleased they'll send me a bonus

now they are direct mailing customers with details of this 'great offer', including the colours available.
getting hard to do this job when the rug keeps getting pulled from under you.
showed her the 2 colours left in stock, after she'd told me that the mailer was misleading i b***ered off.
still no way i'm selling 3 blinds for £99.00 to anyone.
if this is our business (as we are regularly told when it suits Hillarys) then we can choose not to sell to a customer.

has anyone who's sold 3 for £99 been stung by DOR, service call, mis-measure?

Hell Ive just gone to a "parkhome" and been asked for 3 for £99 venetians..... Real chavvy place--sort of folk who watch day-time TV. Regret to say I did 3 over sized ASH venetians for £144. And bless my soul if the losers didn't want another 3.. So I put three more into SAM, saying " Its only one offer per household, love!" "These will be full list price.. Guess what another Sillary myth exploded in my face making me look a total t**t... The machine gave them the second lot of 3 for£99!!!!!!! so ""one offer only, per household ""is a load of rubber round bouncy things,then... So £144 plus £99 = £243.00 all into wood face-fix-- Six venetians, should be in and out in 20 minutes max £35.50 commission ....Heavens do I sound like I think its now a good deal well---yeah-but-no-but-yeah-but.. Came out of Parkhome, put samples in Hillarys bag in van. Dropped measuring stick on the ground , and as I picked it up I spot a Newcastle Brown Ale empty bottle in front of AND behind each rear tyre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 bottles, and 4 suspicious "hoodies" round a fone-box 30 yards away------Gawd, I do not need this hassle, and I do not need these areas. Any more leads on that Park Home site will be binned, regardless of FSM's edicts. Well it did "only happen to me" ?--- Bear

Did standard 3/£99 call today, started to get usual abuse so said "look, don't shoot the messenger. I have no influence on price, advertising, or fabrics. If you're unhappy, it's no good telling me, you need to tell head office". SO SHE DID, WHILST I WAS THERE.
It was great, I was measuring in next room but could hear conversation, " conning people, trading standards ...". Who ever she was talking started to deny the wording on the leaflets to the point customer called me in to verify it was our leaflet and said absolutely nothing about limited stock, selected ranges, or subject to availability.
Customer became very civil and polite to me. Apologised for wasting my time, would be buying her blinds from Trident, and going to Trading Standards Monday.
Think I'll use that again

The more customers that actually do what yours today did the sooner this mess will be sorted out.

Ok well I don't know if you realised it or not but the person who just got their ear bent by your customer was probably someone who also has little to do with Marketing and the offers they devise. Next time take a moment to think and ask your customer to request someone in Marketing. Whilst I understand your frustration, is it ok to upset someone who cannot even begin to change your problem for you? I am just reading through these forums and getting slightly miffed at the lack of consideration and the ease that some of the members here blame everyone but offer no sulutions at all. If we are to get anywere here you need to think about 'WE' rather that 'I'. There are people who care here, we all want this to work for everyone, so please, can we see a bit of positivity and some informative posts occassionally. If this forum is to turn into a place to come and moan and be negative then people will stop coming to visit.

Bezbozny, I realise that the person who got her ear bent wasn't responsible for this offer, but when you're seeing several customers a day wanting this, 6 days a week, week after week after week after week .......... you've no idea just how depressing and demoralising it becomes. I did 9 leads Saturday, I got 2 orders totaling less than £500, so for a whole Saturday, plus 2 hours fitting I'm going to earn less than £75
Hillarys management are taking no notice whatsoever of advisors complaints, so if your department starts to get even a very small part of the stick we take, perhaps you'll add your voice to the protest. I have to say though, your dept. is not entirely blameless, we've all heard things like: customer " do you still have 2/£99", CLG "we have better, 3/£99" customer "what colours ", CLG "several". Reality I've had nothing but green & orange with black flowers since early Nov. customer "advisor called, only 1 colour, very unhappy", CLG " never mind, we've got some more colours, let me make you another appointment" Double bonus!
Having got that off my chest, I agree wholeheartedly that we need to become more positive, which is why I started threads like "how do you run your business", "hints and tips", and did a recent posting suggesting we come up with positive alternative suggestions to the £99 offers. Unfortunately, it got very little positive response.
I've been with Hillarys 16 years. I've had many area managers/FSMs and had a very good working relationship with most of them, including my current FSM. Under Tony Hillary and Close Bros. there was a partnership relationship between Hillarys and advisors, now there doesn't seem to be. If people are constantly working under the threat of "do the hours I say or lose all leads", either some FSMs have severe lack of man management skills, or they are being leaned on by people higher up the ladder with even less ability.
Personaly, I'd like to get back to good relationships and a successful business

When asked politely ( and I was) by my FSM if I could help out by adding extra slots in my diary this side of Christmas, I said I would add them as and when I could (and I will). He thanked me... Everyone happy...... and no threats of any kind. Am I just lucky with my FSM? ( Paul S) PS Bezbozny is the best thing to happen to this site for a while, so Bez, please keep reading and posting. We don't mean to moan.. but it really feels like no-one is listening. We just want it back the way it was.( And I've only been with Hillarys for 2.5 years. It was a brilliant job when we started! ) Decent Blinds Reasonable Prices Good commission. Simple.... isn't it? ??

Thanks for the response.
Let me start by quashing the first rumour. CLC do not get paid a bonus per appointment they book, there is an incentive scheme in place but this is to encourage the Associates to try book appointments in your diarys. The other options available of course are brochures and over the phone quotes. I am sure you would all agree that it is better for everyone that the Advisor goes to visit than we offer a quote over the phone! Now, there is of course always going to be scope for booking appointments in where they are not entirely appropriate. We constantly listen in to live calls to ensure nobody books in inappropriate appointments, monitor the system to check for errors and listen when Advisors call in to inform us of unsuitable appointments. I think that as far as managing the staff goes we are doing a fantastic job. We have made huge improvements in the department over the last year and a half and have developed some excellent staff and procedures. I could talk about this for ages so will just leave it at that for now. Naturaly, we can only expect to capture every error with your help. Please feel free to email the CLC Team Leaders with appointment issues and each case will be looked in to.
We recieve countless complaints from customers regarding offers, not just the '4 for' or '3 for', some people just want the world for 99p and there is always going to be that element of dissatisfaction. I have resigned to the fact that Marketing need to be given the opportunity to do their job and I think I understand what they are trying to do. I know it may be hurting you financially, but I have read plenty of posts on here regarding these offers and what some people are doing about it to turn it in to a small benefit, let's be honest some people are always just going to have £99 for 3 blinds but there are those out there that will actually look through the sample book and want the perfect blind selected from our range. I think what Marketing are trying to do is put pressure on our competition to see how that impacts their business. Let's look at it this way, how many other companies work your patch? How much better would it be if there was less competition. I am not Marketing and can only look at it from what I can see, but that is what I think this is about. The best people to talk about this would be Marketing, if anyone from Marketing is reading perhaps they could take a minute to explain?
Last but not least, I appreciate your frustrations, I am sure your post explains how a few or many are feeling, but there are always other ways at looking at things and all opinions are important, that's what this forum is about. It must be hard seeing a decline in profit margins and I wish you all the luck with the coming months appointments.
If you would like me to expand on anything please PM me. We will continue to make improvements in CLC and value your constructive comments.
Thanks.

Grey Van man I agree with you.
We do need to be more positive.
I left a very Senior Retail Management position because I did not agree with the Management by FEAR style that was beginning to Creep In.
However I feel I should have stayed and been the enlightened one as over the past 12 years Nationally it appears to have become the style of Retail Management.
I was talking to someone in the Tesco Regime during the week. He was telling me that Tescos Train their Managers to be arrogant
At the last Hillary's Team meeting I attended any dissenters were told to be quiet and have a private conversation with the area manager afterwords.
Anyone who did not have SAM was told to stay behind . and explain when they intended to get SAM/
I felt the Advisor's were being treated like school; children
I did not have to stay behind as I already had SAM besides I had to travel home 60 miles to pick my wife up.from work.
Hillary's should remember we do not Work for them, we are on Self Employed contracts. and should treat us as partners
They should not treat us as Eastern European Gang Masters treat their workforce/
However we must try to be more positive as our personal performance will deteriorate.
I sincerely hope this Web Site is secure and my email address cannot be traced
