Worst order is 3 for £99 --23 miles there, 23 miles back in the sticks --wilds of bloody Lincolnshire--miles out my patch, because the wrinkled prat of a punter did not want the previous Hillarys fitter. So HQ sent me---Ive had the blinds for 2 weeks now nearly, and she has been ringing up chasing them.
When I eventually go do you think I am going to tell her about "Order Today for 25% off one poxy blind"--am I b****x Hillarys can send me on a sales call when they want --I do the Fits when I want --anyone want this one??? You can even have £14.45 commission. More economic for me to give you it all up front than for me to fit it.

Worst order I ever had was - wait for it - "Why are you here - I phoned the call centre and cancelled" after driving 15 miles on a Saturday morning in the pouring rain.

My worst was Fri. 3 for 99. Asked for a quote, on SAM. After giving it, he then enquired if it has the sizes on it. F*** IT. It was too late, he had it in his grubby hands. So not only the petrol and time wasted, it cost me 2 bits of paper for SAM, and the cost of uploading. I am now waiting for Quotes to discount it down even further.

Why quote on 3 for 99, thats the price no need to measure or write any thing down, they either have them or they don't

Lets face it..... they won't get cheaper at B&Q even if they use your measurements....

If you suspect customer just wants sizes, tell them your printer isn't working and give them a paper quote. Increase the width dimension by 1cm and reduce the drop by 1cm. Done it a few times, none have ever ordered from me or complained about my measuring.
Made me feel better, anyway

Done it a few times, none have ever ordered from me or complained about my measuring. Made me feel better, anyway I have been bitten by these people before. I have learnt my lesson the hard way. Take the sizes on paper as you used to do or on sam. But leave them only a hand written price and include your phone number. I have had people say after I have measured that they will be buying elswhere and only wanted the size. Lucky for me and unlucky for them I only did a rough measuremnt as I suspected them from the start. A few months later whilst doing a neighbours house they told me he had ordered blinds online and none of them fitted. Too long and too short. If he had only been honest with me I would have measured them for £20. Poor thing. Red

I'm now in the habit of placing a plain white address sticker over the dimensions if I leave a quote. Can't peel it off without destroying the whole sheet.

This ordering online after getting an advisor out is an issue and it may be an option to offer the advisor services for a charge.
Would this be acceptable in anyway?

It has not happened often, that I know of anyway but it does seem to be getting more frequent from what I have heard. Thank you for taking the time to answer some of the questions on here. I know you must be very busy. Just wish there were more like you. Red

I never leave a print out quote. I always write the quote (never the dimensions) & SAM order no. on the At Home mag. Even if the customer asks for the measurements, all i give them is the price

Hello all!
This is my first posting. I have been reading all your comments with a smirk on my face. Its good to know we are all in the same boat!. I do not come anywhere near the highest value order but I do have a chance on the smallest order value. I attended a sales call in the evening where the customer had got paint on three of his new louvres. He had called the original agent to get replacements but with no joy so he called head office. They kindly booked him in my diary. THANKS Order value £10.96
Is this the lowest?
Oh well perhaps the next sales call will be £68,000
Martin

Martin....... nice to see another advisor posting...
You should be able to get £20 payment on this for a service call..... and the commission on the 3 louvres. ;D
