If you're not planning on working between Xmas & new year, get your diary booked out NOW. I've actually got a lead booked in for 27/12 I've just booked all my time, including new years eve, as fits in my own name. If I get bored and decide to work one day, I can just sign the fit off as "unsuccessful" and immediately release time without going through diary maintenance

Well, it's the 11th Dec and already I'm 4 jobs behind due to late delivery, mainly from our incompetent friends up north. All this cr@p we get through, "we're working strictly to due dates", don't chase, you'll get your blinds", "any problems, we'll contact you and the customer". Absolute bollocks. Nobody rang me, nobody rang any of the customers.
I phoned in today, told "oh yes, everyones chasing wood venetians, but we're not allowed to chase them. You'll get them in time for Xmas fit". Well that's alright then isn't it? Blinds due to fitted 12th, 13th, and 14th Dec will be fitted by Xmas, so what's the problem? Blinds due to be fitted today and tomorrow haven't even been started yet.
And it's not just me, local colleague rushed home for todays delivery, hoping to find todays fits on board - no chance, wooden venetians again.

It's not just venetians!
I've had a paper order for verticals faxed to them on the 20th Nov for a Friday 8th Dec fit .... nearly 3 weeks. It took them 2 weeks to key it on to the system & only started to manufacture it the day it was due to be fitted.
I have nearly 100 blinds to fit before Xmas & I'm beginning to think they'll all arrive on the 23rd!!!!!!
I think this may well be my final year with these incompetent pratts!!!!!

l'm down south, but even my verticals are made in Washington. They are making them and then they disappear, never reaching Nottingham. On checking on some of these blinds that are from Washington, you suddenly find out:
Finished 4/11/06 but not arrived Nott. Finished 3/11/06 but not arrived Nott. Not finished Not released Finished but not arrived Nott. Started Any day? Finished but not arrived Nott. Not started Released Started
What does "any day" mean?
l am sitting around with nothing to do, and like you GP, l'll be getting all my blinds on Christmas eve. So despite all my planning for the fitting, Hillarys still manage to screw things up.

What is it about Christmas and vertical hangers? This time last year, I had 3 large fits in a few days with no hangers. I used over 100 3.5" spares, then started cutting down 5" ones. Had no problems since - until today. 68 louvres, not a hanger to be seen. Do Hillarys use them for crimbo deccies? They're all white and the same shape, so can't make the offices look that festive. Unless of course, they're all sat there with different colour felt tip pens ...........

Where are your hangers? I think that the East European Illegals that Sillarys employ in Dispatch use them!!!! They use them to 'cut' their share of the illegal drugs they bring in with them!!!! These guys are always in the back of Dispatch in small groups talking their 'jibberish' all day whilst smoking next to the 'No Smoking' sign which they of course can't read. Which is the same reason your blinds end up somewhere other than with you. Sillarys should plan to print all labels in 2 or more languages. Problem is .... that's too clever for the 'pratts' running the show!!!!!!

It's the same with chains. Lots of split bunch verts with only enough chain for one side of the blind

And chains with missing clips to clip on to the bottom weights. I had some carriers with no rail ,do I win I too have had , Hangers with no louvers. Louvre's with no hangers, chains or weights. Orders with no invoices. Invoices with no orders. Incomplete orders with invoices. Complete orders with no invoice. DORS coming out of my ears, some fixable, some not. All this having to double book customers is not what we want at this time of the year. But what a cardinal sin if you make just one error.

Curved verticals now running 5 days behind schedule so yet another rebook for fitting. Rapidly running out of time before Xmas for rebooks. Some customers will not be happy and no doub it will be our fault for not having the time to do it.

And chains with missing clips to clip on to the bottom weights. The quality of vertical stabalising chains and weights is getting much worse. Regularly find new weights with the lug for the chain misformed or broken off. Had more than a few break off when connecting the chain. The chain as has already been stated have missing or malformed 'c' links. I have also just altered louvres for a customer as she had a new patio door fiitted. The blinds are less than a year old, but the 'c' links at the window (sunny) side almost without exception, broke taking them off the weights, and I had many weights loosing the lugs. Are these also made in China now, and have they not heard of UV stable plastics?

Are these also made in China now, and have they not heard of UV stable plastics? SNAP!!! Just spend an hour re-chaining a conservatory of 22 verticals ( masive big buggaire with two returns and an octagonal end --cost £3700 last December!) GUESS WHAT ---EVERY blasted chain on the sunny side had broken lugs---196 to be precise---and I broke about another 50 getting old chains off!!! And what do I get paid for this--SOD ALL Its a guarantee call love within the 12 months --down to you I lost good fitting time because of this, and have had to delay paying customers, as the Titled Owner of the property Viscount------ complained a lot to a high up in Colwick, and I was TOLD to do it today and jiggle my Diary to suit. Told me they would charge me if I refused and they had to send someone else. I will not be here next Christmas to have to accept this "Bullying" As Bear would say in his olden golden days " Tell 'em to shove it!" But now he has seen the light--I thibnk I will let my legs do the walking. At least I got a Case of moderate plonk from a firm I also work for who value my services a little mopre than Hillarys............ Mrs BF works for them as well and they were good enuf to notice that and offered her a £30 Morrisons voucher--I would ratehr she had got another case of red but--Hey Ho such is life. Too short to cary on working for buggers, and too long to appreciate fully the kindness and generosity of folk who value our efforts. Chain is definitely not UV friendly---took it to my mate who owns a Double Glazing business and he tested it--as he does the plastic from all his suppliers, and he confirmed it is reworked scrap plastic which has been "cold-worked" under pressure, and is unherrently unstable and will soften in heat and fail in 18 months under good sunlight. As sourced in China he says its ex Russian ( cold country! scrap) and therefore shoite! AVOID Thinks must leave sooner rather than later if its all going to go tits up inside 12 months!! Blindsfitter
