Confused...puzzled and concerned

Although an agent for quite some time, this is my first post so forgive me for anything that you may have read before!

Firstly.......greetings

I have never really been one for chat rooms but as it is the early hours of the morning, there is unlikely to be anyone at home - so it's safe for me to talk to myself. Over time, it has dawned on me that there are a hell of lot of guys out there far worse off than me. I'm a part-time operator with a full-time job and had considered jacking in the day job and going full-time with Hillarys.

Fortunately, the Hillarys machine made me see sense in the nick of time - they kept on screwing things up.....and screwing me up in the process.

Hardly surprising you will say but I AM surprised. I worked through the busy December period last year (incl the 3 for 99) and I rarely had time to eat and drink. During that month, I raised ONE DOR only - quite remarkable considering the number of blinds flying in and out of my garage. Yet now errors abound:

• finished product going AWOL
  
• missing items
  
• my blinds delivered elsewhere in the UK
  
• orders not even processed but disappearing into a black-hole in Nottingham
  
• missing paperwork
  
• poor quality finishing
  
• unpaid commission
  

I could go on but you have probably heard it all before. What gives? More time=More errors?

I experience periods of relative calm and structure and then it all goes belly up again; often pre-empted by the reintroduction of the dreaded '3 4 99' fiasco.

Quality blinds? Blinds of 10 years or more that I am often asked to replace due to sun effect or destructive children/pets are far superior to those that I put in their place. I'm getting quite skilled with my spin on the whys and wherefores of the 'difference' in the texture and transparency.

Due to my work commitments and family (don't see much of them), I rarely get the opportunity to attend road shows, meetings etc so my question to you guys is this "Do any of you get the opportunity - take the opportunity to echo your concerns with senior management? If so, do they listen?"

I try to remain positive about everything to do with Hillarys but, by George, it's dashed difficult at times, hey what?

I think most of us at sometime have taken management to task over something or other in the past .some get the feeling that the suits listen,but I think the majority of us are realists and know that its only lip service most of the time.

if advisors have missed roadshows etc don't worry there will be another one along soon 6/12 months or so.you didn't miss much.

as I ve said in the recent past these have become just a cheap and getting cheaper event.

I came into this when hillarys gave a great service to both advisor and customer.what do we get now, all the problems you are having so am i and probobly the majority of us.

I also picked up on the B&Q remark and thought it was stupid not to mention our proper competion,perhaps he didnt do his research on them.

did any of us meet anybody from management apart from mark lucas who had been with hillarys longer than 18 months?

also what i picked up was the fact that 30% of advisors were new they didn't say how many long serving advisors had left,I wonder what the % would be?and would we believe them?

I just got the feeling they don't want to listen to experiance anymore.

Yes we all would all agree with you and find problems now on a weekly basis. The worrying trend for me at the moment is the busier Hillarys are, ie the number of blinds being made, the worse the quality and service becomes.
With another XMAS approaching we have all suffered in the past with late arrivals and DOR'S galore and this year they are predicting a busier November on top. At the roadshow I warned my local advisors whose 1st xmas this will be to ignore Hillarys cut off dates and to be prepared for problems. Its not negativity its realism and i wish it wasn't the case.
My advise for anyone who is going to sell like mad in November and leave the fitting till December, use any spare time you have to check over your blinds. Not possible in every case but it could save you time and fuel costs leading up to or after xmas.

My experience is, it's early December that the leads come. The sudden dawning that Christmas is imminent, auntie Flo is coming to stay , we need new blinds .
I'm more likely to force fits in to November, leaving early December for sales

Both comments are correct!

Cut off dates should be around the 7th - 11th Dec, but you will find 1st - 14th Dec good for self-gen/repeat business.

Whatever you do ... DON'T FOLLOW HILLARYS CUT-OFF DATES!!!!

I echo everything you write--but you are aiming your remarks at RossK--we all know he will do nothing to improve the agents lot, in fact he will do everything he can to minimise our returns and increase our outgoings--the man is a waste of space--and a manager who uses corporate theft and bully-boy tactics( of his Area Managers) to promote his cowardly ways.

Has one person on this Forum ONE GOOD WORD to add about the man??--I think not... If so post it before Friday Midday, this week.....
