Yes, I'm highly sceptical that Hillarys could fill a week with leads by intention, but I'd have given it a try had I been given enough notice. I had a week off a couple of months ago and managed to clear most of my fits, so came back to almost a "sales only week" and took over £10k of orders in a week. AS for your AOVs Mark, are you including VAT? If so, mine for the last 5 months have been £542/£575/£551/£480/£471. Unfortunately a downward trend but averaging £524, so not dissimilar then ;D Tiz ex vat mr morse Sold those shutters at last 1500.00 all i need now are leads .Independence ain't all its cracked up too be can i come back please

BVM How do you price up now with SAM. I used to do the same especially on 35 and 50 mm Venetians and the multi offers but since SAM you can not do this. I know the obvious way is by paper but that seems to be against the whole reason for having SAM, so how do you do it. Also share your secrets with the rest of us as to how you get such a good conversion rate. Red Strangely, since SAM has been updated, it's never happened. I'm generally getting reasonable orders, capri or above, rarely below lace. There are 2 ways I know others are using - 1) use paper or 2) put the wrong fabric in, apologise to customer for your mistake, hand change the SAM receipt, phone in the correct fabric before midday the next day. Now of course I'm not condoning this, just passing on what I've heard. The reason TB got uptight was he felt we were in breach of trading standards. I disagreed as if anyone asked for the advertised 2 clouds @ £99 I reluctantly offered it. Offers like lace & avensis were never advertised as such, so I got what I could for them.

There have been on many occasions where i have priced up from the price book and the customer is happy. Then fill in SAM and it prices cheaper.

Anyone further North have anything to say? Dolly, I know you don't like this rivalry we've started, but for the last year, most of the postings have been negative and frankly haven't changed in that period. Many of the moans are justified, and there are things I don't like about what should be a partnership between Hillarys and advisors. But myself and an awful lot of other people make a good living out of Hillarys and it's nice to see how other areas and other advisors do. I know I'm fortunate living in the south, I'd hate to be doing this in Scotland. I was on a course with a scot 4 years ago and he told me local competitors were all doing any 4 blinds for £99 - any mix verts/ven/roll. If any advisor can earn a living out of that, they're a d**n site better salesman than me. What part of the country are you in? What's business like?

I've queried this and it's because it calculates each blind by sq. mt. whereas we use the floor area. By the time I've fed it in to SAM I can't be bothered to tweak it. Had 1 steep ridge roof, where SAM came out 20% dearer than floor area.

Although did notice when i did a couple of 20 mm tab orders at 2 grand a piece average went up. Trouble is with this 3 for 99 shite we are having to contend with, this last few weeks its down below £175 . Just looked in paper of the next town to me, and there are 18 blind companies advetising, and i thought the town im in was bad with 6 advertising.

Hello all!
Have been wondering about this for sometime now and have finally got round to asking the question!
Who are the 3 "guests" that are currently logged on with me the 1 member? How do they qualify to become a guest?
Thanks
Karen ;D

Hi Karen,'The guests are people that are on the home page and not actually viewing, for instance when you log off but leave it on the home page while you go out. They can also be people navigating between pages and use the back button instead of the home page menu. Invisible people are those that prefer to stay hidden, I am one of the invisible users but not because I prefer to stay hidden, but because I have 24/7 cable and remain logged in permanently. Thats not to say I am viewing all day. That would be sad. So that people do not get the impression I am viewing 24/7 I stay hidden.

blue van man, what are you selling to achieve the high order value average. i think i'm doing well if im in the mid 300 's. Although did notice when i did a couple of 20 mm tab orders at 2 grand a piece average went up. Luckily I don't have 3/£99 and rarely sell lace/avensis/clouds. I did a lot of conservatories early this year as I was the only specialist in an area, sometimes up to 3/day, but that's gone now, hence the downward trend. I sell quite a lot of tab blinds in to beading, generally 20+/conservatory, though often have to BAQ to get them. Still very worthwhile though. As I said previously, I'm reasonably fortunate in living where I do. We were once told that 40% (or may even have been 60%) of all new conservatories in England go in to Hampshire and Dorset. One thing I really do believe helps me is that I work every Saturday and Sunday, selling only. I get to see both partners, they're more relaxed and receptive to an offer. I rarely fit weekends, in fact I've pre-booked a total of 3 weekend fits in the last 4 years and averaged around £300k incl VAT/annum. I think weekend fits are a complete waste of MY time. I know others have equally strong and opposing views about weekends, but they're wrong ;D

I don't know what all the fuss is about just having your diary open for sales and not doing any fitting. I have been doing that for the past 6 months. Plenty of no hope leads for 3 for 99s but not much fitting. It wont make much difference to me. In fact it has been that bad this year, I have just had my family tax raised from 34 pounds to 88 pounds a week, That shows how bad it is. Not just because my sales are down but also because my expenses are up due to SAM and petrol prices, so a double whammy. My driver tells me that he has seen a massive drop in the amount of blinds he delivers to advisor's over the past 2 years so where has all this 100 million sales come from?. Blue van man and Russel must be doing it all by themselves. Or Web blinds is more prominent than we care to imagine.

Red Maybe you've found the answer Red - more kids ;D ;D In fact, take the Hillarys philosophy, and if you have the capacity to make 3 leads(kids), then squeeze another one and make 4 Think of the fun and enjoyment you'll get, not to mention the extra family tax. I'm reliably told that web blinds only do around 500 blinds/week against 20,000+ for advisors, so it must be Russel and myself - it's certainly not Oxfordshire or Berkshire is it Mike?

My deliveries come EARLY we are talking 7.00am to 7.30am and this morning I was chatting to driver ( as you do) and asked him who he knocked up earlier in the day as the van was half empty when re pulled up the back door roller, this morning " No, mate," he said " You are always first as you are nearest the Motorway exit I come off at" " So its a poor week for deliveries then"-- I queried? "Getting worse every week, if you ask me. There's stuff on there that was ordered last Wednesday and it was put in your bay last night when we loaded up" "They told us last week that rounds may be extended and a driver or two made redundant unless it picks up" I know he delivers to about 15 agents ---now if that is a trend nationwide, someone somewhere has a problem--mainly its us lot!! Get to know your driver, ask the question, theres a lot of insider Hillary info walking up and down your drive each week--go get some of it....... Bear
