As i understand it , according to the e-mail recieved today , due to an ERROR by Hillary's , they are not licenced credit brokers at the moment! Tut Tut!
So they are requesting us to return to any interested customers to get them signed up at a later date when the system is operational again (two weeks?)
My comment is how will they pay us to make this return visit?
I have e-mailed a reply asking this question , and commenting on the price of fuel!
Can i suggest you all do the same so that it is quickly known if they will pay up something?
If not i am going to bin all credit agreements , and refuse to do them in future!
Some one has made A.N.OTHER balls up at Colwick towers.
Perhaps the Phoenix Four (aka MG Rover , as was ) are lining up to secure this Company!
All this does NOT inspire much confidence in our current leaders.

Perhaps the person that does the quality checks on the blinds is the same person that checked the Credit License renewal form before it was posted!!!!! ?? Maybe! .... it was filled out by the person that does the 'Monthly Self Management Reports'!!! ? It could have even been filled out with too much spin!!!! Or! ... perhaps it was delivered by one of the delivery drivers who left it outside the Credit License Application Office in the rain & so now they can't read it. The driver DENIES this of course!!!!!!!

Is that right Bear that Hillarys are operating illegally offering credit on customers premises or is it summat you just made up?
I do a lot of business using the agreements and find it a great tool in closing the sale. I hope you haven't done what you appear to be saying as my business will be affected if I can't use the agreements. I've already missed out on a £3k order today as no credit availabile so they've gone elsewhere as not prepared to wait for few weeks!
I hope you didn't instigate this as you insinuate in your posting and if you did it's now my business that's suffering!

If it's illegal...then it's Hillarys fault you missed a sale, and not Bears! Hillarys used to offer to take post dated cheques ....also illegal...until they had to stop that. Hillarys don't seem to operate quite legally in general. The illegal clawbacks for instance!!!

I think also bear's for bringing it to someone's attention.........if he knew why not confront hillarys direct instead of going behind their back...........his and hillarys actions have affected my business.
Anyway, is it really illegal.............how do double glazing companies get around this.............I signed up to credit agreement in my home.
Also , what have bear and nonails dreamt up of in the past? Would love to know if this has affected advisors directly too!

I think you will find that you need a consumer credit licence to conduct credit agreements.
Thats dealing with yet another Government Quango with LOADS of paperwork and regulation........

DO NOT JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS MATE ANY FIRM NEEDS A CONSUMER CREDIT LICENCE TO OFFER CREDIT "OFF PREMISES" IN CLIENTS HOUSES. IT APPEARS HILLARYS HAD ONE AND LET IT LAPSE ( 5 YEARLY RENEWALS NEEDED) AND THE OFT DO NOT WRITE AND TELL YOU WHEN IT EXPIRES!!!! SOMEONE AT HILLARYS MISSED IT--OK THEY MISS LOTS... a holder of a licence is requested by the OFT to warn them if they spot transgressions....I did not spot it.. someone at Hillarys did... they reapplied and have to go the long way round as they are not "renewing" but having to start from fresh again It takes 3 weeks--ish..... I do not use Hillarys Credit so I would never know about it anyway..and each agent should carry a copy of the Head Office Licence if you want to be really pedantic. I know you feel bad, but they f****d up and we all suffer Whats new?? Bear

In answer to 'thelloydgangs' question!
If you hold a current valid Consumer Credit License you can offer credit. We as representatives for Hillarys can use this license for Hillarys customers only.
We cannot however provide finance from other companies other that those agreed by Hillarys.
The difference between the types of credit agreements are as follows:
Non-cancelable contracts. Must be filled in on a Registered Company Premises ( usually any Ltd Company ). These cannot usually be canceled by the customer.
Cancelable contract. We use these. These can be used in the Home & customers have the right to cancel the contract. Details are too wordy to put on here.
However! ... If the Cancelable contract was signed in e.g. a Hillarys shop then it could be construed as Non-cancelable if we chose to be difficult with the customer.
So in short! Hillarys or us are NOT doing anything illegal.
Where Hillarys DID become law breakers is when they forced many of us into an MBNA finance agreement or any financial difficulty/hardship in order to pay for the 'printer' or even the monthly line rental for 'SAM'. This was done by way of threats of termination/freezing out unless we took on this expenditure.
Had anyone have had the time & money to take this up with the Office of Fair Trading or the Consumer Credit Protection people then Hillarys may well have had their license revoked back then!

Bear
If you're refering to me posting wildly then I was only responding to Joys posting of Bear.........you didn't and what will you and nonails dream up next in response to your post of the oft did not know BUT THEY DO NOW....He He He!
If you want to be helpful to us advisors that maybe don't think as "sideways" as you and some others do........stop posting in cryptic and give us the plain facts please. You don't use your name so that shouldn't be a problem for you and also would stop all this confusion!
How do you experience Hillarys and have ways of finding out things that I cannot? Pray tell!
And don't you think I'm not hacked off with Hillarys too........I've been with the company for 5 years.......less time than many of you I know.........but I've certainly seen many changes.........some for the better and some for the worse and I certainly complain about the worse but unlike many praise the better too!
By the way, I'm certainly not your MATE either..........Alan would be far too jealous!! ( I don't know what you look like anyway...........or do I.....have we met before!!?)
Thanks to Greenpesto for explaining the whole credit issue.......glad to hear that we are not doing anything illegal unlike what Bear previously posted!
Karen (smiley's back now!!) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
