Hi All, First apoint. tommorrow for awning any tips from the advisors who have been doing them for a while? Had 2 hours training 8 weeks ago Cheers Glen What? A WHOLE 2 HOURS? What more do you want? 1. Go as wide as possible, biggest complaint is sun coming under sides. 2. Make sure no obstructions, and sound brick work 3. If unsure, specify spreader plates. They're standard design and can be used on another job if not wanted. 4. When specifying control side (motor) it's viewed from outside - unlike blinds. 5. Be enthusiastic. They're expensive so SELL them. 6. If offered 10% voucher, point out small print excludes awnings and canopies. 7. Remember you only get half commission - perhaps that should have been point 18. Italian/Spanish fabrics, or carrot/apple fabrics in Hillarys speak. Fabric is solution dyed, so colour goes all the way through, i.e. cut a carrot and it's same colour. Cut a green apple and it's white inside. Means no fading or white showing through any scratches. 9. Full cassette, fabric fully enclosed during winter 10. Free W+S sensor for April orders Bloody hell, I ought to write the training manuals.

As you can tell I was not listening for those two hours ha-ha Glen Glen Never any harm in attaching a picture. If there's anything you're not sure of, attach picture and ask for survey, but they won't do a survey without a photo first. Apparently over 90% of survey requests are sorted just by looking at picture. Des

No problem Glen....Just remember to make the awning as large as possible...gives the most shade...and more importantly, more commission. ;D

Hi Rhino, Not a lot of advice to give from myself just longest / shortest drop and somewhere to fasten hold down for controls, only done a couple in the last 4-5 years and the last one from Hillary's was wrong was told to go back and re-measure each individual drop (that was fun) Filled you with loads of confidence now eh! have fun. Its one thing getting them to make blinds to suit customers needs. I just wish they were so customer freindly when it came to fitting the things. I have a customer still waiting for his awning since November. All paid for yet because the fitters come all the way from Southampton they wont come and fit this awning until there are more to fit in the area. Not customer friendly.

This is exactly the same position I am in. On the one hand you want to sell another ASAP and on the other you dread more delays. My customer rings me twice every week chasing it, all i can do is ring specialist products and tell them he has rung. Even they can do little about it. Now he is threatening to cancel.

Can someone answer why on a remote controlled awning we have to fill in a control side or else it goes in query?

It's which side the mains cable comes out. They drill a hole through the wall to the nearest 13amp socket. Usually into the room downstairs but I've also had it fitted to a plug upstairs as customer didn't want a cable coming down the wall or in the lounge.

Thanks Blindwizard. So my next dumb question is ; Is the side you note down taken from looking out of the house or looking back at the house? Thanks in advance.
