Welcome back Red..........did you have a good hol? How much is your 10 box shutter order worth? K Hi Karen Had a brilliant time. saw about 12 different countries but got stuck in all that trouble on Friday at the airports. I did not miss much while I was away then, just the fsm impostor. The order value is 2600 pounds and boy does it take up some room. The boxes they have come in are so big I am thinking of keeping them and building an extension out of them. ;D You know, when I got back there was over 700 e mails for me. Most of them were just obscene stuff that you get and junk mail so I set my filter to remove any with the word Hillary's in it and it reduced it down to only 23. ;D. Its good to be back,.......( not.) Red

Hi Red,
When I got phone call to tell me shutters where ready I got Arthur from washington dispatch to deliver them direct to cust, BUT had to pay someone to help me fit them, to heavy ! 6 shutters value £2400, Hillarys lost finance agreement had to go back out to customer to re-sign docs etc. That was in 1ST week in April and I am still waiting to be paid for job.
I do not do shutters or roof blinds anymore, waste of time for me and not worth the hassle in my opinion back to basic blinds keep it simple SORTED.

I don't understand why people want to do something like shutters, then do nothing but moan about them. If they're too much for you, don't do them. And if I was your customer, I'm buggered if I'd stay in for a delivery. If I'm spending thousands of pounds, I expect professionals with the right gear, not somebody with a fiesta and a roof rack. Are running a business or a hobby?

Are running a business or a hobby? On the contrary. If I was spending thousands on something then I would make sure I was in to collect them, and just for the record, I have never been buggered. Who said I have a fiesta?. Who said I was moaning?. This is the first order I have done for shutters and have declined loads of leads until I knew what to expect. Now I know. Red

Hi Dan,
Got rid of the fiesta years ago, use a van myself, delivery is arranged the day before fit etc. all done very professionally (ahem) If Hillary's had explained fully what was involved from the start then I would not have done the course blah blah blah
But hey like I said just not for me, you crack on being the professional you are ;D

Glen Then you wont be relying on conservatory sides in the future either--are you aware of that? If the punter mentions the conservatory in any way, then the lead goes to a roof specialist, even if they only want sides doimng. Thats the ay Hillarys shafted my business I used to do at least one and ofetn 2 conservatory sides in the week and refer the roof to my local rof-man. but now he gets them all!! Bear

Bear I'm not a specialist roof fitter, but did do the 'estimating' seminar, and attended a conservatory yesterday, 6 slots. Customer was asked about roof by CLG, but decided against before I attended. Pity as I would only have been allocated 4 slots. Did a sides only last week, 4 slots allocated.

Bear Yep- That happened to me . Lost vertually all 'sides' business . Just hope Hillarys live to regret THAT move! My Sales figures are so poor , for all months this year due to THAT fact , and Hillarys secretly installing NEW agents. Silly barmaids! That they are. Oh ,,,,, had Tufnells Courier deliver some Louvre boxes today - you should see the state of them! Smashed to half the original box sizes ! - More D/O/R's on the way i'll bet!. Headrails Covered in so much Cardboard and tape completely unbelieveable.

I've never heard that figure quoted, and knowing the people involved, Mark/Craig/David, I don't think any of those would ever quote such a ridiculous figure. I've had 4 local leads, giving me 2 orders totaling £1800. I've had 2 long distance leads whom I phoned before going. I explain that I'm 50 odd miles away but will happily visit them if they're serious about buying shutters. Both have given me rough dimensions over the phone and I've given them budget quotes, fully explaining the difference in appearance and price of craft wood and bass wood. Neither customer has asked me to visit but both have been very happy with the response they've received.

Hi all
Regarding the 6K average figure for shutters. Think you've misunderstood there. We were told that one of the first orders for Shutters was for the whole house and came to approx 6K. This order was also in our area but well before we were trained up!! Typical hey!!
So far we've sold shutters to 4 customers, 1 customer twice. 1st customer was for £300 but rest have been approx £1800. The customer who has ordered from us again wants to fit his French door shutters himself........bless his cotton socks!! Alan's not bothered tho........save's him the job and we still get paid the same!!!
K ;D
