Perhaps that is what is needed .... ... us alleged regular 'wingeing few' should totally shut up for a while so that the other silent few/many can start contributing rather than just agreeing with us in silence & then signing out!!!! What say you all???!!!!!!"I AGREE" said the Bear, and signed out---in silence! Bear

Bear Why dont you all stop whinging and get out there and sell! pesto start using your sam or find a easier life why does using sam make you a better salesman? i just find it a pain in the ar*e to use at time of sale, i would rather use it after when i've left the customers.I know its not the hillarys way but it works for me.if truth was known i don't think i'm alone in using it this way and i will carry on doing it this way.

As my printer rarely works.... and I have to give a paper receipt 9/10 times....I quite often just do it on a paper order form. Is my printer/SAM faulty? Or is anyone else having problems printing receipts???

You are not alone - SAM is great but is just a time consuming distraction when actually with the customer, and the printer is a piece of cr*p anyway. Much better to take the order the old way and then enter through SAM at home later.

I have hardly any problems with printing.
Don't know why using SAM is an issue between advisors, if we were all the same it would be a boring old world. Can understand hillarys wanting it used but leave them to argue the case.
Just a point about using SAM I found yesterday - Did an order of 10 blinds, took a deposit but bad area so told me that it would send it to hq for manual import, hit finish arrow instead of print. So far so good - went back to order to print but didn't have option to view order but did let me in to enter blinds and showed no blinds on order - oh s#*t I thought lost my 10 blinds and what about the deposit ? As the book says don't panic so came out of order not entering anything, went to order list and the order was there but saying it was queued. It was 6pm so IT dept closed so decided to wait till in decent comms area. When it did update the order was then available to view. The point of telling you this is a) don't panic, b) don't re-measure c) don't start entering more blinds d) wait till SAM can do an update then you can check all is well.
I'll copy this into the SAM section and also email IT dept as it shouldn't let you back into order.

So a true picture begins to emerge!
Many find SAM to actually be a hindrance during a sales call according to these last few posts.
Why worry about SAM failing or the printer letting you down at a sales call when a paper order does the business in a fraction of the time?
I embrace new technology like it is going out of fashion ... but SAM is a long way off from being the ideal companion when you are out there trying to sell up from 129 for £4 which naturally leads you into multi-quoting because of the massive jump up to the next price band & there are no 'creams'.
I appreciate 'dibsdobs' love affair with SAM is down to him/her, but insulting me or others for our views is counter productive & may result in alienating him/herself from others who are all battling against a stiff market & idiot policies from Sillarys Ivory Towers.
We all want to make a living ... but we all want to do it with a degree of freedom!

I prefer a paper copy anyway so I can see what I've measured/quoted. as for the printer I took it out on the first few days and it didn't work properly and i felt that i looked a fool in front of customers waiting for something to happen , which didn't ,so i did the next best thing reverted back to paper.I've used it ever since and will carry on doing so,Hillary's will never be able get rid of paper orders because we have to use something when SAM doesn't work? another thing with SAM is that it was forced on us and we were charged for it when in fact its just a selling aid just like the sales kit sample books, and in my opinion Hillary's conned us all? as i have said i will carry on using it but my way.

Is there a danger of you becoming a recruit to the "Dark Side" Yes SAM is a boy failing to do a mans job when teamed with that printer--I too take orders on pads and ( photo copied!!) and send my orders at night from the loo!!! Well it keeps me occupied, and now the way sales are going generally I spend less time in the John!! Hereticus, old son, your fortitude historically has been laudable--it just goes to show that my "end Piece " to all my postings about General Jackson is truer han ever--dont let the b****s grind you down Bear

All of this reinforces my belief that a web-site where we can enter the order details would be more effective & cost less all round.
But Sillarys will always find a difficult & stupid way to do things when an easier & more cost effective way is available to all!!!!!

Sorry guys, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to disagree with you about SAM. I think it's GREAT and I hate having to go back to paper orders for roof and black out romans! No more spending hours faxing thru orders and worrying they haven't received it or can read it ok. Very very few order queries as SAM won't allow you to order out of spec or out of stock blinds. Every Sunday free for me to do as I wish.........no more phoning customers to arrange fit dates! Sometimes I have problems with my printer but a soft reset soon sorts that out and as long as the housekeeping backup is done each day they're are no problems there. I don't understand why you don't get on with it. I found it a bit tricky to start with but it's like anything...........the more you play with it the easier it becomes! This is one advisor who certainly won't go back to pen and paper! Karen
