has anyone else had problems trying to reach this department, this is now the 3rd week I will attempt to reach Dawn in Commisions, 12 calls and 3 e-mails this is totally unaceptable ill or not, I was sent the wrong comisions satement and cannot complete any of my personnal paperwork untill I know which jobs i have been paid for. I have maybe lost an hour and a half trying to sort a problem not including cost of calls waiting up to 15 mins on hold to leave a messege on someones voicemail that hasn't got the decency to return your calls, is this a way a nationwide company with a turnover of near £100million should treat its staff?

Yes joy and mick, we are having exactly same problem. Only way i can think to make a difference, is to hold onto any monies you take from fittings, until they pester you for it, like they expect us to pester them for ours. i have dozens of invoices, they haven't paid us on, which need sorting

Money in my Bank this morning but again no statement Last statement date I have is 27 October FOUR WEEKS AGO How would they like it if we sat on their balances for 4 weeks??? I bet there is some rule in the contract that we have to IMMEDIATELY go and Bank at nearest NATWEST if we get a balance in.... WHY ARE THEY NOT PAYING US RIGHT, AND DILLY-DALLYING? IS THERE ANY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LACK OF UP TO DATE COMMISSION MONIES AND STATEMENTS AND THE INSISTENCE THAT WE GET 50% deposits. I WORKED FOR A KITCHEN FIRM IN THE 1980'S THAT UPPED DEPOSITS AND SLOWED PAYEMNTS TO FITTERS AND GUESS WHAT --THEY WENT BELLY UP ON CASH FLOW PROBLEMS IN 3 MONTHS FROM THE START OF THE "UP THE DEPOSIT" REQUEST?? I seriously think we have something to worry about here, as I cannot trust my FSM, and with all the conflicting b*****ks coming from Nottingham I genuinely think we have a firm with a bigger problem than we think??? Any replies--or similar?? NoNails

NoNails and other comment ref. the future of Hillarys is very real and worrying.
When the stupid £99 offers started, I could justify it by saying things like "old fabrics that didn't sell .......", "warehouse clearance to make room for new range ...". But then we went on to mainline fabrics like acacia £33 for 2mt. or £48 for 3mt rollers, and a wide range of stock venentians. I don't how to justify that to a customer, it's cheaper than B&Q. Competitors are obviously saying we're going bust and buying work at any cost. Remember Courts, Allders, Index, Littlewoods, Gadget Shop, and many more, all big companies taking orders up to closing the doors

Joy and Mick, Yep, i help hubby, full time for last 15 years, fitting 350k worth of blinds each year for 10 years. all done by our good selves. Thats why to see whats going on now really does our heads in. The looneys have taken over, and are ruining OUR business

I echo your sentiments Farmer. I was part time for 13 years, then 3 years ago gave up BUPA, pension etc to go full time. Under Close Bros. Hillarys was an exciting place to be, full of new ideas. It's a real shame to see how the current board are floundering, I really think they just don't know what to do, and like most people in their position, they can't admit they don't know.
Don't know if you're aware, but the man at the top of the company who currently owns Hillarys is ex-Marks & Spencer. He failed there as well, they paid him off to go away. It probably wasn't his fault, it was market conditions (sound familiar?)

grey van man, yes i have met the man, he didn't inspire me. Sorry to have to say this, but it would be good if Hillarys did go bang. i am certain that we could all do a better job ourselves. an ex- advisor who worked in my area has set up on his own and is thriving. the reason why he is thriving is because the mark up on each blind is immense. He probably sells about 5 blinds to my 10, and makes 3 times as much dosh. He could see all this coming 2 years ago, thats why he got out. All you guys , it isn't about selling blinds anymore !!need i say more

I see from postings that apparently it is one girl,Dawn, who does all the commissions. She has apparently been off ill for 3 weeks. So the whole thing has got in a mess.
This is an almighty management failing at Hillarys, as whoever is in charge of Dawn should have a replacement on hand to do something as important as weekly correct remuneration to the sales& fitting force.
To have let it get to the state it is now in is a grave dereliction of duty, and shows scant regard for the proper management of the Accountancy and pay function.
The result is Hillarys get to keep our money for "x" weeks, we waste time chasing it. We get lied to again by FSM's in that it is "only you" and do we do anything as a loose association of advisors. Not so far I think!!
Are we going to even send an email to the "faceless head of things that go titsup?" That chief exec guy who sent us a message in a godlike manner some weeks back-how easy it is to forget his name! None of us will do anything, and get trampled again.
Spoke ith my FSM-- Well more accuratelt iytspoke at me and I brought up the commission question. "Its only you-noone else has complained to me I'll look into it" Thats the last I'll hear of that then.
I mentioned it was a current hot topic on the Advisor website, and was told in no uncertain terms that " Fine well that is not representative, and is in reality only a half-dozen malcontents hiding behind code-names who have no audience at all at Nottingham. Dont get involved with them , they will infect you with all the bad things in their lives. If they did the job as they were contracted to, then they wouldn't have time to send emails griping at Hillarys"
So now we know how the middle layer on management view our concerted efforts.
So I take it lying down, like the rest of us then, do I?. Bear

Farmer, maybe the way forward is to set up local franchises, with Hillarys assistance. If they helped small groups of advisors to set up localy, then supplied through Arena, they could save an awful lot of money. They would still get the business, they could use Hillarys name if they wanted, and save a hell of lot of head office and admin staff costs

Bear, simple response to your FSM
If Hillarys did their job as they were contracted to, we wouldn't have all these things to gripe about

l am already victimised by my FSM and if l had my real name here it would make matters even worse.
My FSM, lies, cheats, to the extent that it prevents money from being paid to me, which is as far as l am concerned is as near as XXXXX as you can get without been a XXXXX. And he never does anything. He should be supporting me and sorting out any problems that l might have, but l do not get any kind of support from him at all.

Bear - could you please let me know who your fsm manger is ?
I'm not asking for your name, as that is private - but I would be very interested to know who it is !
Especially regarding some of things they said about me and the forum !!!!!
