Bear - as far as I know the £20 includes the first hour. You should look for the additional £10's for anything over an hour or the nest visit you have to make.
Hopefully we can get some kind of parity on this.
What we need to do is find ways to stop these service calls being done in the first place.
I'm sure everyone would much rather us being out there earning the money ( and profit for the company ) and not going around patching things up.
If you have to go back to a call more than 3 times then I think a payment is justified.

Any service calls we have will have to wait until all the "paying customers" have had their blinds fitted, and all the new customers have had a sales call...... could be a long wait unless the service calls turn into "paying customers" too.
I am also logging all the return visits we make on Hillarys DOR's in case they decide to back-date payments on those. ( I can dream ;D ;D ;D)

have just had to do a service call that is out of guarentee but h/q told the customer that we would do it anyway Call HQ and find out who booked the appointment then as kto speak to them, it will be up to them to sort out the payment for you. If they refuse or try to put you off then make sure you inform your fsm about it. Stamp your feet a little, tell them you won't ever do another service call etc etc. They have to pay you in this instance. P.

Hey!! Another change for the better--well better-ish!! I was rung up today by a very civil H/O person asking me to do a service call on an out of guarantee rooler fitted by a long-gone agent...AND WAS OFFERED £15.00 which I was told the customer had agreed to pay me. Well son-of-a-gun!!!!! I rang, went, replaced the chain, re-plugged a bracket, and was given £15.00 CASH.. Honestly that is the first service call I have been paid for in nearly 5 years....Promised many a time, but nothing ever came of it despite chasing, chasing, chasing so I gave up.. Never chase at Sillarys it never will happen anyway...... But this is a whole new feeling, Commission in the Bank nearly up to date --- only £390.00 missing four weeks, naturally no commission statements, but hey £15.00 for service call has Melissa swept in and dished out the cod-liver oil ? Go for it girl...I am now almost a fan.. I just wonder if we are having an effect by using this forum... Nonails

Is it correct that you don't get paid for service calls if a blind is within guarantee if it is one that you have fitted yourself, even if the call is because the blind is defective? I have done loads of service calls for agents that have left and been paid £20 on each occasion, but was told that a call I did the other day was not payable because it was one of my customers. Seems a little unfair!?

If you ignore an 'in warranty' service call & the customer calls Customer Care they will send out another Adviser & pay them £20. If he does the same & you go ... you get paid. Crazy or what?

So I get £15 and am happy when everyone else gets £20 for a service call!!!Oh bu%%er!!!
Well its £15 more than I ever had before, and from now on its £20 What do Head Office want to do with our heads, treating us in this way?
This £15 lark they did me for is I suppose a genuine case of " Well its only happening to you!"
Thanks for the tip folks
At least the forum has created another happy camper, at least my tag line at the bottom of my every email sums this situation up veru accurately!!
Cheers

So, Greenpesto, on that basis if I don't do my in guarantee service calls and you don't do yours, and we are adjacent geographically, then if we get sent to do each others calls we both get paid £20.00per call?....Ho Hummmmmmm!
Only Sillary management could think up a system like that. Its just like British Officers in WW1 . Lead from behind and never go up to the front, " Ye gods its rough and ugly up there chaps, stay in HQ and keep your heads down, trebles all round ehh what!!!" "Plenty more troops to call on when this lot go under- chins up chaps"

Don't just settle for the £20 either ... you can negotiate on some jobs that will take longer than ... say... 15mins to do or will require additional visits. Just don't abuse it though or it'll be another loop hole that Sillarys will block off just to spite us!

I think there should be a standard rate.
Until recently i was told it was £7.50 an hour you can understand my reluctance.
I thought I was told the other day it was £20 plus £15 an hour.
I think the system of recording and paying for service calls needs looking At
in my opinion the minimum on the job rate should be £30 an hour
If you divide your time between fitting and selling this only brings in £600 a week
Out of this you have to provide vehicle petrol telephone tools fax Sam postage pension sick pay office accommodation storage etc
Not a disgruntled adviser just someone who would like to achieve.

I have always been payed £20 for the 1st hour and £10 per hour after that. On the Hillarys web site under 'Become a Hillarys Advisor' they say that you can expect to earn just over £22.10 per hour. If that is the case I think we should be payed the same rate for service calls! ;D
