did anyone else get insert cards for presenters/books?? Nope, I think it's a new game, customer only gets a discount if they can pick a discounted colour, hold it in the air, and shout "I CLAIM MY RIGHTFUL DISCOUNT ON THIS COLOUR"

MORNING ALL If you wished to keep the info, I have noticed that with all the new price lists/ spec sheets that they havent included a roller/vertical coordinated fabric sheet or and more importantly a list for Acacia rollers in the 190 or 200 widths. I realise they want us to use SAM more but it was always handy for a quick check.

I must admit I am looking forward to the change in the next batch of offers. A fresher idea with a third off and with a better range should give us a timely boost heading in to spring. The 50% offer has long been a tired affair with many customers commenting on the link between us and the "DFS's" of this world.(same old adverts) It also means we can do away with the seperate special offer books which i have never liked. You dont want to push/sell them the half price blinds, but customers dont like the fact you have hid the offers in your bag until they asked about them.

Yes the 'third off'offers will be better - something positive from the hillarys camp at last ! On my spring offer sheet there are still some 50% off pleated ! is that a mistake ?

If you look closely, 50% is only off 25mm, my guess is they're clearing out stocks ready for the dropping of this range. They've been talking about it for a long time now and having an open filo 20mm as a low cost option. I've also heard Hillarys have signed up to Perfect Fit, so it would make sense to drop 25mm, or else we'd have 3 different roof blind systems

I agree with offer better than the 50% but I prefer to have them in a separate swatch. If the sale fabrics are in the main book but the customer is not looking for sale but more interested in finding a fabric they like they can just happen to choose one in the sale and then with SAM I have to sell it at sale price. I know I could do a hand written order but I can't be doing with pricing and processing a manual order nowadays (Spoilt with SAM !!)

I agree the 1/3 off on price is a good idea, but had 3 appointments today and customers not happy at all with the discount of only a 1/3!! Not to mention the multi-blind offer and they want to know if they are also on a 1/3 discount? No Mrs,XX , they are a multi-blind offer and you have to buy 3 or more blinds at this special price and you have to add the 12.50 because you have very wide windows. Look normally it would have you cost you X amount for 1 blind, and if you have all 3 windows done with Lace Festival, amazingly the price is reduced!!! !!! I am even starting to believe it myself!!!!!!!!!! Not to even mention the dearest old WEBBLINDS!!!!!! Lost 2 very large quotes this week, because they have seen the blinds cheaper, ahhh, soooo much cheaper on Web blinds, than my quotes!!! I can't compete against those prices!! Wooden venetians, my price 224.00 and web blinds price 74.00!! I was just wasting my time and energy and my conversion rate is way below my previous conversion rate!!! I can just scream!! On a serious note, I need to go on the shutters training beginning of March and I would like to know, how good is the leads that you as specialists get?? Would it be worthwhile to do it? I just feel it will cost me a load of money to get myself and one of my fitters there and will I make any money out of it in the end? Any advise and ideas on this problem? If I look at the postal codes I am doing, I realize that only a small percentage of the customers would be able to afford them! What is the commission on shutters and how many do you have to do in a month to make it viable?

What is the commission on shutters and how many do you have to do in a month to make it viable? Shutters are an excellent product unfortunately you still get 15% so in the early days its not that profitable. After fitting a few I find them more profitable than roofs eg I fit a shaped roof in about 6 hours average price 1600 to 2000 20mm type a set of 1100 shutters should take about 1 to 2 hours after you have fitted a few quality is great and selling fairly easy as most people have researched the product . The downside sorry but I feel the training is not enough and most shutters specialists are not confident enough to sell or fit them if however you do get past this mental block its all good hope this helps

As the last few postings seem to be wandering off topic .......errr lets think on this .............. The Spring Promotion is at an end , and the third off offers are now complete . The new promotion 'Mid season' sale is back to fifty % off, with more fabrics offered . So lets analyse ? The third off sale did NOT give Hillary's the desired results ! Leads are down . Easter is suposed to be busy ! I am not! Blinds ordered last week are ARRIVING this week , a great indicator that the factories are not busy either . So , if i am not getting the leads - where are they ? Answers on a postcard - NG4 2JR ?

Yes Hillarys is very quiet I have had my FSM on the phone drumming up extra availability for over Easter. Why? Because he or rather Hillarys make his only purpose in life to be to make sure that the lead to diary doesn't reach the 4.1 days mark. Heaven forbid. The majority of appts this week has been quotes because I am first company to attend. Or being asked to attend houses with unfinished work. Had one where customer has told them the conservatory hasn't been built yet and still made her an appt and all she wanted was a brochure. ::)Her remark was you must be desperate for work.

I have a theory. Does anyone want to hear it? No. Too bad, here it is.
The clocks change and the weather picks up a little. People get started on their gardens and ignore their houses for a short spell. Then, once the gardens are sorted out, they return to the house and buying blinds.
This probably does not fit in with the great Hillary's plan but, hey ho!
