Just got an 'out of stock' email.
"We apologise for the current number of unavailable items due to many of the European suppliers being on their summer shutdowns. We anticipate that the availability will improve shortly but cannot guarantee dates until the suppliers return."
Well actually, i think thats wrong.
I think its because Hillarys havn't got the foresight to order extra stock BEFORE their european suppliers go on hols. If its so busy and so important that I actually work BH Monday as per their begging emails and letters, the berks might at least have the courtesy to have the d**n stock in to fulfil the orders gained.
If Hillarys can forecast extra sales enquiries, then statistically its not a huge leap to forecast that they might need some stock shortly after as well. Customers 'might' wait, but as the orders keep coming, in the fittings still need to be honoured and there is sure to be a backlog and delay.
Won't cause Hillarys too much of a problem, just the guys who have to fit more fittings into a shorter time frame.
Brilliant. Well done boys. Again.

Like i said earlier, this just goes to show what Hillarys have become............need i say more. Well as with anything I think there's probably two sides to it. Don't get me wrong I'm sure there is plenty to improve on as far as stock goes but there are also parts that out of their hands and things they do well. Looking at the list there are a couple of items that are on summer shutdown like you mentioned, quite a few that suppliers failed to dispatch, a number that suppliers and Hillarys are working to improve dispatch dates on and quite a few that have failed QC. Now I'm sure some advisors would moan like anything if Hillarys took on board substandard material and yet still moan when something is out of stock because it's failed a QC check. Now it's not like I'm trying to put up a Hillarys view point because doing my job the stock is a pain in the whatzit for me as well. The amount of queries and problems caused by materials being OOS have been numerous and really annoying for us as well, so I understand the frustrations. But there are usually two sides to anything and I'm sure everybody will be happy when stock is bought back under control.

The point is ... is that with 35 years in the business Hillarys should not be making these sorts of errors!!!!
We see these people being patted on the back & being paid high salaries for continued 'thingy-ups!'
'Blinders' comments re-enforce what I said only a few days ago on another thread.
The next annual 'thingy-up' will be OOS's for Xmas & the deliveries not being met. Follow this with extra discounts for the customers & less commission for us!!!
We'll get new Advisors taken on for the 'Big rush' at Bank Holidays that will never come. Then when they leave we'll be running around for £15 & £20 to clean up after them which will result in not being available for calls & so Sillarys recruit more newcomers once again.
After that the advertising for the New Year will be 2 weeks later than all the other companies & we will have missed out on even more business.
Next year it'll be advertising during the holidays again when no one is around to service the calls & Sillarys will have another huge OOS list.

Wasted 2 calls today 'cos its out of stock. Why is it by ringing arena, pretending to be a customer, no problem. also local trade company also has loads in stock, just ask Yorkshire bloody blinds. even web blinds can provide the silkern fern venetian slat in 5 days.. Yet more running aroung for nothing. This cant go on.

Dean, thanks for making the effort to respond to this, it really is nice to see someone from h/o stating a different point of view, As you say, there's always 2 views. The problem we have, is we see more and more weak, amateurish excuses coming from h/o. Take the current OOS excuse - European factories are closed for August. Nothing new there, it's been like for years. Over 30 years ago, British companies I worked in knew that would happen and planned around it. Earlier this year, Washington was late delivering venetians (nothing new there either) because of the May Day Bank Holiday. Again, any professional management would have foreseen and planned for that, but we seem to have re-active rather than pro-active people who can't see any further forward than yesterday. Believe it or not, even the OOS list we get is out of date. I got one yesterday, 29/8 showing meadow grass as the only 25mm venetian not available, but I have a 25mm champagne one "waiting components" as that's out of stock as well. You may feel we've come a long way over the years, but have we? Ten years ago, I posted orders in twice per week, got the blinds and had them fitted in around 3 weeks. Now we have SAM and SAP, and still struggle with 3 weeks.

Yet another day runnning around for absolutely nothing if it is so. sold £1090 worth of blinds this week. Just doing more and more for less and less.

Mine is showing as "missing component" on tracking report. Phoned in this morning and told out of stock. Jurgen checked his OOS report dated 29/8 and champagne wasn't listed, but it was on some other report he was looking at.
Shame really, if only they'd put the right blind in the right box, neither myself nor advisor Lapis would have a champagne DOR. Perhaps all the stock's been used up on on re-makes

If it's out of stock because we are changing supplier then let us know. But if we are changing supplier and the product is not going to be available until October, then thats a thingy up I am afraid. But please, please don't give us bullsh1t excuses - just tell it like it is.

Hanen't heard anything about champagne, BUT have just been informed another £600 order with acacia blue, is now on hold, 'cos its out of stock. EVEN THOUGH SAM LET IT THROUGH !!!! Why dont we all just shut down for a month, till the suppliers are back off their jollies. Who are the buyers at Hillarys, dont tell me,, some fresh out of UNI' graduate, who has never done a days work in his life. Apart from tap a computer keyboard......... another nail in the coffin
