I've been with Hillarys about a year but keep changing method of measuring rollers allowing for tiles.
I always sell sidewinders and now measure tile width add 2cm and do recess - which should give me 1.9cm total clearance ( 2.9cm more than fabric less my added 2cm = .9cm + 1cm recess = 1.9cm). But i often find they seem only to take off 5mm for recess with rollers. I of course check that top measurement is ok with width I'm ordering.
I know by now I shouldn't have to ask and not come a cropper so far but interest to know how others do it.
(answers will probably be useful for new guys as well)

Hi Blindwizard Yes your right on a recess measurement on roller there only take off 5mm, this came in when there changed the brackets to what they are now, the measurement is from bracket to bracket, I always measure where the brackets are going and take off another 5mm, except where there are tiles at the bottom, then I measure between the tiles and call it an exact measurement, so far no problems , I also try and fit in to window where possible , I get round this by telling customer I can make sure the blind is level and show them the different sizes of brackets I can use.

Use the 'Measuring pole' - Measure where you are to fit, run the pole down recess to tiles. 1. If tiles very thin then decide to reduce size or not on non- control end. 2 For thick tile ... keep pole resting on top of tiles & push in pole until it just misses tile on one end. If it is thick tile onto thick tile giving deep cut back to recess then allow 5 - 10mm over control side. 3. Take measurement as 'Recess' !!!!! ... Works for me!!! 4. Opt for 'reverse roll' & fit to frame whenever possible.

I determine which side sidewinder is going, and measure from wall that side to tile other side, add 3mm and call recess. Works unless you have really thick tiles.
Just goes to show, there may be a "Hillarys way", but we all do it our own way. It's like conservatory/bay corners, I always take 1 blind right in to end of window frame, then butt second blind up to it. I've seen many Hillarys fits where both blinds have been stopped short, leaving a noticeable corner gap. On reverse roll, I overlooked the fact that the front blind in a bay was over 200cm recently and got 2 25mm and 1 36mm barrel. Because blinds were reverse roll, by setting them level it didn't show. Only problem was I hadn't allowed enough on the side blinds, but with judicious use of the last of my old style 36mm brackets, and cutting some of the PVC trim out, I got there - phew!
Again, in corners, reverse roll minimises the gap between blinds.

if tiles are thin (5mm) then i measure the recess at top of window and mark as recess measurement, usually gives very close/neat finish at bottom, if tiles are chunky quarry style then i measure wall on sidewinder side to tile opposite side and still go recess measurement, gives plenty room for error. only causes a problem when fabric rolls to side. always aim to fit to frame using 42mm brackets on pvc which drops blind nicely in front of handles!
