Up until now Hillarys have always been generous with the length..... the fabric has always been long enough to allow for it to wrap around the pole at the top a few times to hide the clips. NO MORE!!!! I have just DOR's some rollers as the clips could be seen when the blind was fully down. This is now apparently normal! Hillarys say it is not a DOR, although my measurements are correct. Is this more penny pinching? Just think how much fabric will be saved by doing this. Never mind that the customers get a raw deal and we get the stick for it. [glow=red,2,300]WARNING[/glow] Measure your rollers and add 10cm to the length. ;D

Some times on long drops like door you would struggle to keep it in spec, only to find that when the blind arrived it an extra 3 feet of fabric.
But now they are not even covering the clips!

Whoops - looks like some Mismeasure fines coming up! My area manager came out on some calls a couple of years ago and told me that because of the surplus fabric I should always order rollers to the nearest drop below the actual drop i.e. actual drop 193 - order 183 and provided the difference is no more than about 10cm I have always followed this and never had any problems.(Often made significant difference to price and helped secure order) In view of these comments it will be interesting to see what length fabric I get now.

Generally I find that the length of fabric is generous, and haved also used the price down to previous size, but I have always checked with customer. On one occasion the customer only wanted to dress the window, and asked for the shortest drop. When it came, it was as specified, but normally it would have been longer than ordered.

I spoke to the Team Leaders in Rollers after I spoke to Mick regarding the issue with the C clips being visable and was told that they always add an extra 10 or 20 cm of fabric depending on the size of barrel. I mentioned about them normally using more fabric on thinner materials and they said that this is not normal practise. It may have been a more experienced operator that has in the past added more fabric on to hide the C Clips more effectively.
I haven't ever come across this problem before where the clips can be seen through the fabric, even in my years working for the Trade Division and the trade customers are a lot more picky than you guys!!! Only joking!! Perhaps they are being a bit tighter on the extra fabric of late but adding a little bit extra on your drops on thinner materials seems to be the way around it (I've been hinted at!). Hope this explains a few things from another side of the business :-)

Thanks for that Sharif.
It makes much more sense to have just a little extra frabric rather than the reams that some are sent with.
It could save a massive amount over time.
But, as you say - each operator would need to be told which ones to be careful with if they are thinner materials.
Simple stuff. Great idea.

On the other hand, on smaller drops of less than 75 cms, when sidewinders have connectors, they's so much fabric, that you can't lower the blind fully, as the connectors gets caught in the mechanism.
