I know the AOL and URL, I just wondered if he said anything about this site having any impact on the company. In his remarks on the reasons for setting up the Hillarys advisor meetings, was the comments being expressed by agents on the Advisors Online forum. So yes he did give it just comment.

... The reason for not getting more roof sales boils down to the simple fact of price. I don't care how good a sales person is, if someone does not have the money to spend ie £2500 average shaped roof, you will not get it. You also have to take into account they are still getting over the cost of the conservatory so another £3500 is a big knock to them. I have to say this again, I have still pushed for the roof, and sent the quotes through regardless.... That is one reason for the new intrest free credit with MNBA. Orders over £300, opver 10 months over £1000, over 12 months over £2000, over 24 months. All with 10% deposit. These rate now apply for all blinds, not just conservatory roofs. In fact the new Vertical book, shows Intrest free options inside the cover.

To all those who voiced their opinion after my comment, thanks. Farmer - Most of my leads have been into conservatories and orders likewise taken, granted mostly for the sides, but I have never been put off giving a quote for the roof, or scared of doing shaped blinds, that is why I did the specialist training at my own expense to get more work. I have to say this again, I have still pushed for the roof, and sent the quotes through regardless. The other issue I have is the lean-to promotions that will be on offer in the press ie do your roof for £900. How unfair is this that - we won't be getting that either. One sales call and 2 hours work - slightly drunk right off with this. Well sais J............. No offence dibsdobs. I am only stating fact of what has happened to me over the last 15 years, with regards to roofs. Twas one of my roofs that instigated the pythagoras theory being introduced. I back J's posting 100%. I always try to push roofs wether they have asked or not. So its not about my attitude.... simple fact is, even after being quoted 10 grand by sandersons, and if I then quote 2 or 3 grand, its very seldom, we get the order. People just cannot afford it. Even my best mate couldnt afford my extra heavily discounted offer a few years back, simply because he had not budgeted for £1500 quids worth of blinds. he had remorgaged to put the conservatory up, so he was skint. So no matter how long I sit there saying how wonderfull we are, and we are the best, i would not have got that sale... In saying that, i am willing to learn, so instead od derogitory comments, lets try and help each other to win these sales, and others by passing on tips to each other. I will try anything once, and with this new idea, although i am not aver charmed with it, I ill give it a shot. One thing i am not going to do though, is go down the heavy pressure, thomas Sanderson route. remember they are salariied, and dont fit them, etc.

Blind scout - Not being nasty, but I am fully aware of interest free - don't forget they are already paying off for cons. on credit and don't want to extend that any further.

I have always been in favour of 'Interest free' credit options as a means to closing business.
My main concern however is that MBNA ask too many questions on the application form which in itself has to be the most complicated I have come across for years.
On top of this you are involving other parties i.e. Hillarys Treasury Department. They have 'LOST' paperwork including cheques on countless occasions & you have to chase so many before you get paid.
One of the biggest 'closing tools' I used in the past was the 'post-dated' cheques. Again this was one of those changes introduced at a time when business began to 'fall off'!!!
We need to have as many 'options' available to close a deal where money & customers are concerned!!!

I have never used the Credit free options apart from the illegal 'post-dated cheques'. I have used the 50% deposit as a ploy; fit in 4 weeks time, next months salary. But not always what customer wants. I recall the Black-Horse agreements for roof blinds only, and I thought the MBNA forms easier to fill in. With it now being available for any order over £300, I think I shall be offering this more often now. The big stumbling block, is where customers don't have bank accounts with Debit/Credit Cards, they are not likly to get credit.
Where cost cannot be overcome in the sale process, and it looks as if it's going to be a quote, I will leave the last comment on the lines of "B&Q do a nice greenhouse shading in white". :-q
