Today I have had the dubious pleasure of going to do a service call on another advisors customer because she refused to have him in her house. What I found when I got there beggars belief. Verticl blinds fitted to a patio door were too long, so he has tried to "bodge" the job in order to avoid the mis-measure fine. He's done this by, firstly, fittng outside the reveal using the end part of a UEB bent up to give clearance at the bottom of the blind (failed) and has fitted them with screws that were too short and were pulling out of the fixing points. Then, he has discovered that he still could not open the patio door because there still wasnt enough clearance at the top. His solution I hear you ask, cut a portion off the top of a Upvc door exposing the insides. This , you might think, is enough, but there's more. In the kitchen he had fitted a roller blind, but he was too bl**dy lazy to drill holes so he used the holes existing from the previous blind which left it only just covering the window on one side and overlapping the other side by about 3 inches. Now I believe (and this is only my opinion) that this sloppy type of workmanship is not doing the rest of us any favours and think that this Advisor (sic) should be named and shamed. Does anyone else agree.
PS. I also have pictures of this job

Agree totally - he should be named, shamed and terminated - no question.
We cannot afford to have idiots undermining our hard earned reputation. If a job's worth doing, its worth doing properly - and if its done properly it leads to repeat business and recommendations.
Get rid of him, and all others like him.

Surely you probably know this guy through attending your local team meetings. Why not, at the next meeting, pin up the photographs of this job and shame him in front of his FSM and colleagues. Even if you don't know who he is this ruse might flush him into the open.
We should all be incensed by such incompetence in his work and contempt for his customer and colleagues - he's gotta go or, at the very least, be taken off the job until he can be trained properly.

I feel that even though the job has been a real shocker that he should be given a chance to improve.
Training is one way, another is to have them do 'ridealongs' so they learn more on the job.
If every job that they do is of such low standard then they will soon be found out and shown the door.
I've had to do 'clear ups' for others in the past, so I understand where you are coming from.

I'm with doggy on this.
Things like this should be delt with away from the forum ( discuss it - fine ) but we don't want anything personal in this manner.
It is an internal matter and not for the forum.

Agree totally....
No naming and shaming on this site. If his FSM is aware of the problem that should be enough. (It would be fun to see the pics though!) ;D ;D ;D

I've come accross some dodgy fitting, but,as already said, that could and should be improved on.The thing that amazes me is the attitude and rudeness some advisors show to customers, some of the stories I have been given by customers beggars belief.I know for a fact that a good number of them have complained to h.o. over a few years, but what has happened to the advisors, nothing. I used to think, what's it got to do with me,but then realized that,of course,it reflects on the company and me,all tarred with the same brush.A number of customers are specifically asking not to have certain advisors sent round, should'nt this be telling the company something?

uptonparker, this has been going on for the 16 years I've been with Hillarys. We had one who so many customers refused to have back, it was only when the rest of said we wouldn't do his service calls anymore that anything got said, then he got caught selling other company's blinds and was sacked. I knew he had been doing this for many years but believed a blind eye was turned due to the volume of business he was doing. At the end of the day, if an advisor is bringing in work, Hillarys will keep him, complaints or not
