l always knew that their was a price difference across the country, but l never thought it was as much as that.
So in Scotland a 100 x 150 25mm wood costs £101, whilst in London it costs £231.
A 5 sided bay window in Scotland £505 A 5 sided bay window in London £1155, a difference of £650
lt might be interesting to do a chart of the different prices for different products across the country.

Now let me get my head around this one. If an agent sells one venetian in the south for say 200 quid. He gets 29.36 comission. If an agent in the North sells exactly the same blind but for 150 quid, he gets 22.02. Thats a difference of 7.34 on just one blind. Add to that the lower order values and the cheap 3 for 99 offers and no wonder the Northern agents are strugling and the Southern ones are doing well. The 20 quid missmeasure fine is still the same all over the country and petrol costs are the same. Does not make sense. On top of all that we have Web blinds selling them at a totally different price. Then we have FSMs telling us not to discount to much, none of it makes any sense. We are in competition with our selves. Where does this North South devide start. I think I will move. ;D

There is nothing to stop you selling them at a higher price. Me, l would rather sell more at a lower price. l see a lot of people that say that they are over priced.
So what do Sillarys do, have a price increase.
Your wood blinds in Scotland that are £105, would you pay £231 for it? l don't think so.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with grumperbear!
I'd rather sell less at a higher value & work smarter rather than harder!!
This does not mean I will not discount heavily for an order or walk away needlessly. I simply don't want to work any longer than I have to on any given day of the week.
It would be even better if ALL the leads resulted in an order but that ain't gonna happen. Just discount to what YOU want to sell it for so that you get the money from it that YOU want.
I would not buy at the prices we charge either, but people do, so make the money when you can, just don't sell yourselves short!!!

Then do it ! It makes perfect sense. Those jobs you'd rather not go up a ladder for , well Price High too! 2007 is the year we advisors MUST look after OUR SELVES !

You bet!!!
2007 MUST be the year we all take ( No, make that re-take! ) control of OUR businesses.
You'll notice a change in the NEW Year because I think many are going to leave or place Sillarys as their 2nd income because more money can now be made by doing other things!!!
Silliards are going to lose their grip on us once & for all!!!!!

Gp, l agree with you, and have said in the past, if its worth my while doing it at a certain price then l will do it. Remember l work for myself and not Sillarys. l think some blinds are so over priced in the first place, the example we have being looking at is the wood ven. l could give 50% off and still be more expensive than Scotland.
