Fitted 11 new woods today (shame the customer ordered 14 !!). Quality is so much better, cords are thin but as they use twin cords shouldn't be a problem.
Main reason of posting is that one had a problem that when you let it down one side wouldn't go down properly. After playing with it found that the cord going down and back up was twisted. Solution is:-
1. Push the little wheel in the base rail out - Small screwdriver from the top, just push the spindle that goes through the wheel ( not the plastic holder), make sure you don't lose the little spindle as the wheel comes out. Also don't let the cord go up through the blind. 2. Holder the whole blind against headrail and pull the offending cord down. 3. Now you can see how much it is twisted, untwist and put back together. Hope that makes sense, oh and yes you need three hands.
Also take care if you need to cut valance it's not wood more like veneered mdf so if just cuttting few mill it's difficult.
Other thing I did notice was that when you tilt fully the top slat pushes against end brackets and therefore bows slightly in the middle, mine were tape so don't know if it's only them.
But on the whole feel much happier selling them now other than delivery was over 3 weeks and still waiting for rest.

I am just worried about quality of valance, they bought Java cream and what would the effect be if I need to shorten it? ;D I had it yesterday with a roler blind that was exactly 3mm to long, although I checked my order and it was still 3mm to long on a recess order!! Helloooooooo a duhhhhhhhhhhh! ???I battled and tried and after a few hammer shots (geniune) on the side of the barrel mananged to get a perfect fit! ( imagine 3 mm with a hammer !! takes a few shots to get that out of the way!!!) I was really frustrated!! Will this happen all the time, or was that a Monday or Friday blind? Did any of you done anything like I have done yesterday? Mann, I was so glad that I could get the blind to fit!!!!! : Waiting in anticipation for wooden blinds to be delivered!

The secret to measuring a Hillarys roller blind in the recess is to knock off 4mm from the actual size then put recess. When they introduced the new controller on the blinds 3 years ago they forgot about the brackets and the small white pin you use so calculations dont include these even though they have been told over and over and over again, so any new advisors measure wall to wall and take that measurment and put recess. Of course, like yours, it does not fit and is generally around 3mm too wide once you put the white clip in, but a hammer!!!!!. A bit drastic but when needs must. Red

Sorry forget to mention I received my second cash payment card from Hillarys today!! Which one am I suppose0 to use? No explanation why they send the second one, and I refuse as far as possible to take cheques or cash, cheques only when it is a company!! So far I was lucky!! I just explain to customers that with Royal mail and posting the cheque, I am not comfortable with it and it takes so much longer to get order processed than with a debit or credit card!! Must admit that SAM did give me a few embarrasing moments when it refuses the card and I need to contact ITC, or the communication is not what it is suppose to be!!

Yes it is worth reminding everyone that the recess measurement we are asked to do is WRONG.!!!!!! YOU MUST DEDUCT 4mm FROM THE WIDTH INSIDE THE RECESS ,AND THEN PUT THAT FIGURE DOWN AS "RECESS".
AS RED SO RIGHTLY SAYS IN HIS POST, THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD BY EVERYONE ABOUT IT, ( BECAUSE THEY FORGOT THE CURRENT BRACKETS AND PLASTIC BIT ARE 3.5MM WIDER THAN THE PREVIOUS BRACKETS, AND SOME thingy IN THE FACTORY ( HEAD OF BLIND PRODUCTION?) DECIDED WITHOUT CHECKING THAT IT WOULD BE THE SAME.
BIT OF A BUGGAIRE IF YOU FORGET!!!--BUT THEN HEIGH-HO, WHAT IS LIFE OF AN AGENT IN HILLARYS IF NOT FULL OF NASTY SURPRISES!!!
"WELL YOU MEASURED IT AND IF ITS TOO TIGHT ITS YOUR FAULT!"
£20 FINE PLEASE---!!!
ROSS K WHERE WERE YOU TODAY? WE MISSED YOUR CHEERY GREETING AND YOU MISSED THE CHANCE TO CATCH UP ON INFO THAT MIGHT ASSIST AGENT, REDUCE DOR'S, AND MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR ALL.. WHAT A PITY...
CALLAGAIN SOON?....

S....te!! Why didn't they tell us when we were doing the training? That means I would have to take my hammer everytime??? I must admit, I said to the customer (after numerous hammer ing.........!!!!!!!!) that I need to take the blind back home, because I am not satisfied with the way the blind is hanging!!!!! Needless to say in Afrikaans we say " 'n boer maak 'n plan " (translated a Boer makes a plan), back home I used the saw and took off that extra few mm's!!!!!!! That is why I had a perfect fit!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

They never ever listen to advisors and this is just a small example of what happens when they dont listen. I wonder how many new advisors have fallen foul of this slight oversight. Red

Lost count of the number of times I've taken a saw to a roller. Always thought it was my fault but now I know different. Thanks for that tip Don't use a saw. Use a Dremmel. One of the best tools I ever bought for all those tiny jobs like cutting off 3 mm from a roller ;D or grinding a broken screw down. or cutting wooden valances to size. Or trimming top rails on Venetians. Red

don't use UEB's with the new brackets. left hand bracket doesn't fit the same as the right hand one, more joined up thinking from those decision makers
