You are making the foolish assumption that its for the xmas after the next 15th December--stupid boy--never ever give fitting date for a Hillarys product. I would assume its for Xmas 2008. Call your FSM and advise him that he is a practitioner of manual self-abuse, and tell him to get it sorted....Enouf of this borlocks, already!!! I set my delivery criteria and advise when I ring the call BEFORE i visit that sales are so good we cannot now promise a deadline that Colwick will do its best to ensure you miss! Defuse this sort of tripe early doors and set your own agenda. Never let an accountant with a hidden agenda run your life, especially as you are self-employed!!! Confucoius him say" Be kind to enemies--send them surprises to make their day--send them a hand grenade by first class mail, and next day send the grenade pin by 2nd class mail--lo, 2 surprises, and enemy die smiling--have a nice day" Take control of your own life mate and dance to your own tune and not to the lying borlucks of your enemies. I will sign off now, grasshopper, Contented Blindsfitter

went to customer yesterday who had received direct mail ad. she wanted the roman in picture so shows me the letter/ad. in big bold letters 'order by 15th december and fitted for xmas' be aware! Why, oh why, do they do this every year. I know that we all want to maximise Xmas sales but personally I want to maximise sales all year so why is Xmas different. Telling customers that they can order up to 15th encourages them to do exactly that - put it off to the last minute ! Then, as every year, some blinds never make it in time and others arrive so close to the day that we are expected to work when we should be attending to our own families and festive preparations. A few years ago I received a blind delivery at 6.00 pm on Xmas Eve ! I, like all of us, will hopefully be working hard up to Christmas but I will be setting my own cut off dates. I will be finishing work at lunchtime on Friday 22 December - full stop, no arguments. I don't know what my cut off dates will be yet because I haven't received the Xmas delivery van schedule but, once this is known, I will be able to make sensible judgements that ensure best possible customer service.

This is being advertised on TV as well going to be a number of disappointed customers then! having worked a number of xmas rush's i already know what my business will be doing regardless of hillarys! the customer in question took a quote with the expectation of leaving ordering until nearer xmas. this expectation was born out of the marketing. surely they want as many early orders as possible to spread the workload. just another example of no joined up thinking from people claiming fat salaries on alleged qualifications and business knowledge!

In my local paper today the A4 leaflet says "Order Now in time for Christmas" - That's the right way to spread the ordering/fitting by pushing customers to order now. Why aren't they doing that nationally ?? does Christmas come later in other areas of the country ??

This is being advertised on TV as well Yep...just seen it for myself ! The TV ad has a banner across the bottom which clearly states 'order by 15 December'. Not only does this encourage customers to leave it until the last minute, and not only are a lot of customers going to be disappointed because advisors will set their own more sensible cut off dates, but it is also misleading (should I say lying ?) because we have been told to allow three weeks for wood venetians, awnings can take four weeks and sometimes longer, and delivery on shutters is around eight weeks. I've taken two conservatory orders today and in both cases have arranged with the customers that I will fit the sides before Christmas but then return in early January to do the roof - simply so that I don't have to take two whole days out at a time when we are expected to be going crazy with last minute orders and urgent fits.

I have just come in 10 mins. ago from mt last call of the day where they wanted a quote that would be still valid when they pay the deposit " after 12th Decemeber-like it says on the telly," and then we will get it fitted for Xmas".
I just said--No chance or guarantee that it will arrive with me or get fitted before Xmas unless you order now and I will fit when it suits you "near to Xmas--but dont expect me after midday on Dec Friday 22nd!""
Ok they said well can we pay you a quarter now then and get it in before Xmas, for definite. Yes I replied I will fit it early December-and I wil ring you when I've got them" Ok all agreed £1,190 order booker and £290 deposit on plastic.
Just tell them how it is in reality and forget all thjis silly Hillary management bo****ks. People who do that sort of selling are ex- double glazing nerds.
Control your own life as Blindsfitter says on here earlier 2day-- YOU ARE SELFEMPLOYED not them
Cheers Bear

From past experience with a Sillarys Xmas, I'll have my last pre-Xmas selling date of around Thursdays 7th Dec. & New Year orders upto around Tuesday 12th. After that it's no more selling with CLG leads until the New Year. Don't forget that if you leave selling to the 15th you will almost certainly be faced with DOR's on Xmas Eve because the standard of our products also fall off at this time of year!!!!! With the fall in quality, don't forget we'll be giving additional discounts off the final balance too!!!! Happy selling!!!!! GP

Just got the weekly rag sheet through.
A month ago, it was don't book any fits for Novemeber, cos we're gona be really busy, book fits first couple of weeks December, when it's going to be quiet. DIDN'T HAPPEN DID IT? Then it was sell during end Nov/first week Dec then fit, even though we'd booked fits for december. Now its "Until 15 December, allocate as much of your time to selling as possible", book fits in after 15th. But we can't can we, cos we booked all our novemeber fits in to early december, didn't we? Just as well none took any notice in the first place then aint it?

I have now had a couple of drinks,,,,,,,, after a long day fitting blinds and exceeding customer expectations i have now have a very clear idea of what Hillarys should do for all us agents at this festive time of year, ?? A Christmas bonus scheme!!,,,,,this would help us to eliminate our remote, self managed existence relationship we have with this company. Based on your turnover, over a set period of time , a percentage back at Christmas. Even the pagans at Hillarys can see the benefits to this. Motivated agents, happy customers. I have a profit tree> Happy motivated Directors,, equals happy motivated staff, equals happy motivated agents equals happy customers equals PROFIT. Time for another drink.
