Update - spoken to Advisor Kenilworth - not able to be of much practical help because it sounds like a mismeasure on the baserail length of one or more 20mm roof pleated blinds. There's no way that you can modify these on site so simply suggested that he double check a few measurements, perhaps take a couple of digital photos, make apologies to the customer, and go home and pour a beer.
Shame that this couldn't be easily resolved, but always happy to help if I can, which is one of the reasons that I and a few others actually give our telephone numbers openly. Never any harm in asking.

Actually, Red, not a bad idea - not just moderators but anyone out there with the experience and confidence to feel that they can help others by giving advice over the phone. Lets face it we're all in the same boat - hit the occasional problem, can't get hold of FSM, can't get any sense out of service support, and just need to talk something through. It's another way in which we can use the community spirit of this forum to greater effect. I don't think we would quite do away with FSM's but most of them are no help at all with practical stuff anyway, nor are service support, so there is an oppurtunity to fill a void. Anybody got any ideas on how we can set up a 'mutual help / troubleshooting hotline' ?

HI everyone. I already happily let my FSM pass on my mobile number to all new advisors in my area and they often ring with questions on admin, measuring and fitting. I certainly remember how tough it was starting out, at least the training as improved since 5 years ago. Again no computer expert, could there be a section/list of useful phone numbers provided by us and listing the topics that a particular advisor could help you with. For example if more a specialist ie roofs,awnings or the more everyday things? Possibly to print off and keep in the car? It would just be a case of notifying/ updating when on holiday or not available then work down the list to the next number.

Thanks Hereticus for your support today - it can be a lonely and tough job out there - particularly on a Saturday and it was good to talk! The idea of a list of names/numbers and areas of expertise sounds constructive and positive and I would welcome that. I will keep your number to hand just in case for the future if that is OK. Certainly a camaradarie amongst agents can only be a good thing. Thanks again.

I'm just aggrieved that the FSM's are being paid £30K to give us this very support but remain as useless as ever!!!!
Good quality support in any topic from Sillarys is always impossible to find!!!
Until that changes ( when Hell freezes over! ) I'm always happy to help.
We all only have to ask!!!
