Had ours last night even had regional manager present came clean about SAM said in 6 months hillarys will STOP taking paper orders so without SAM you have no business. ( one advisor actually left at this point )
Hillarys to better define our self employment by insisting we do it HILLARYS WAY
Branded clothing will be the next must have ( this was hinted at rather than actually said )
and for everybody who has wondered what their FSM does from now on will make AT LEAST 2 field visits with every advisor each year to monitor application of the HILLARYS WAY mandate ( under performers will have the pleasure of more Field visits with the FSM in tow )
questioned about payment for repeated dor visits hillarys are looking at aspects of service calls
commission payments are definitely not going up in next 2 years
many positive things from meeting in general especially Hillary's commitment to becoming UK's No1 in blind sales and SAM is to have some innovative updates in next 6 months including shaped roof blinds

How will they know if we are wearing the branded clothing.....? Are they going to ring the customers back and ask what we were wearing?
Don't mind wearing it if it is supplied free of charge and looks pretty. ;D
I bought the lapel badge, but it broke. Can I DOR it do you think? lol
Take it to trading standards Joy, not suitable for the purpose for which it was purchased, lol

It will be very interesting when paper orders will not be taken.Whats going to happen when SAm fails are we to tell customers I am sorry we cant take your order Hilaarrys only accept Sam orders. Also if Hillarys are going to redefine our self employment I would suggest that before we sign anymore contracts we have have them looked at by an expert. Like me i expect most advisors just signed on the dotted line witout seeking advice.

Hi Niceday4selinblind, what was meant by "Hillarys to better define our self employment by insisting we do it HILLARYS WAY" ?
Insisting we do it Hillarys Way doesn't define our self employment it moves us closer to being employed according to the IR56 rules. One of the are self employed tests is answering Yes to " Can they decide what work to do, how and when to do the work and where to provide the services"
Hillary's commitment to becoming UK's No1 in blind sales is good to hear but not at my expense by blind prices going down, my costs going up and commission staying static therefore going down in real terms.
Don't mind about workwear as long as reasonably priced. Regarding SAM I think this will mean less part-time advisors being taken on as up front costs are putting them off I've heard. ---------------------
Niceday4selinblind reply:- Hillarys way was explained as a list of minimum criteria that advisors must meet to receive HQ support.
McDonald's was used as an analogy when I pointed out we are supposed to be self employed, all McDonald's restaurants are franchised, but food and service is generally the same standard, if franchise does not stick to McDonald's HQ criteria it removes the franchise.
so self employed but you do as the company tells you
they are also demanding that we the advisors come up with a lot more self generated leads

I bought some dark blue polo shirts from Peacoks at £3 each and printed the logo onto transfer paper to make my own "branded" workware at a fraction of the cost (My apologies to peacoks for the spelling, but this forum keeps changing it to "Peathingys" )

McDonalds being a franchise is a different kettle of fish, we are self-employed (subcontractors I suppose). Now if Hillarys wants to talk franchising with exclusive territories I'll be the first in line to talk turkey. (fish, turkey - think it must be lunch time

what do they want us to do about self generated leads. If you follow Hillarys advice and put your advertising either side and across the road and no-one takes the bait, are we supposed to go out cold canvassing? None of us can force customers to ring us.

Isnt it time we all went. its just geting too silly to carry on. as my accountant says, why do we need an area manager anyway? haven't had our team meeting yet. I certainly dont like whats happening with Hillarys. I have done 20-30k a month for years, isn't that good enough anymore. The number of of advisors who have come and gone over the last few years i have lost count of. they cant stand the hassle. as one ex advisor who now works for Homechoice blinds as their local advisor, said, he got out ot because he didn't like working for A BANK, and the way that Hillarys are now operating. Come back Tony all is forgiven

Hi Pontypool..... Is this down on other years? How many hours do you each put in for that, are you both working full time? My husband and I also work as a team, but both part time, which probably amounts to about 35 hours a week between us. We sometimes wonder whether it's worth it........
