AS many of you are aware until this week Leads have been so Sparse I have not had to use SAM on new pricing structure.
This week great improvement but I find the download I did did not happen.
I would like to attempt to download through my laptop and broadband.
I was going to phone help desk but did not finish until late yesterday.
Have a full diary This morning.
Could someone please post
Step by Step instructions on connecting yo a laptop
Up to First Download instruction.
I have a wireless system I did wonder if I could connect SAM to it but the person on the Help desk did not know if this was possible.
Regards

Regards There is actually a very easy way to connect Sam to your computer. Put SAM next to your computer, in its cradle. Make sure both are switched on and press the red phone button on Sam 3 times. Leave both Sam and your computer for around half hour or so to pair and you should find the Sam welcome screen on your computer. Red

Hey, this sounds like just what I wanted for Christmas ! Please tell us more. How did you work this out in the first place. What does it then enable you to do, for example
- could I then enter order details through my PC using proper mouse and keyboard (the bigger orders that you save til you get home), and is that then synchronised back to SAM ?
- could I then use the 'print screen' function to get a proper size order print out that I can then punch and file, rather than keeping track of fiddly bits of paper ?
- once SAM and PC have spent their half hour pairing up, is the connection then established for the future so that you can just dock and go ?
What else can you do through your PC. Please Red, or anyone else using this tip, please tell more so that the technophobes amongst us can come up to speed. Perhaps Paul (ICT) could perhaps also post on this with more hints and tips.

Stiched me up well and proper - nice one !
There's always a fall guy, and this time it was me.
Never mind - if you can't take a joke....hope you all enjoyed a good chuckle at my expense.
Shame though - running SAM through a PC sounded like a great idea, so perhaps Paul could give it some thought when he finally stops laughing.

My wife got me good and proper this morning. Left me a letter by the kettle saying she had left me for another woman. At least I hope it was an April fool as she still is not back. Red

Now the real way. First, run the Active Sync disk that came with your phone. Plug your charging cradle in to a USB port ActiveSync will run and copy your list of phone contacts and any appointments you've put in Calender (not SAM appointments) to your PC. Great when you get a dead battery or new device - just copy them all back again. In the ActiveSync window on the PC, select Options, then Rules tab. At bottom of page, change "Pass Through" to The Internet. You can now download latest information and price/software updates for free. I'm not aware of any way of accessing SAM from your PC. Boring in comparison to Reds suggestion ;D, but functional. I'm lucky in that I have 2 cradles, so 1 is permanently connect to PC and 1 to a time switch for overnight charging. Anyone worked out to to use email on SAM yet?

Can also connect via MAC but will require a commercial package Missing Sync to connect to the PDA.
I also connect direct to the Broadband via a wireless router, but you will need the router code and password if set. (but you will be amazed at the number of networks around here that are not pw protected allowing access to anyone). You may need to switch off GPS or reset the PDA, then Start- Settings - Connections(TAB) - WLAN. This takes you to settings, tick wireless LAN ON, and my device found the network, and asked for the router password. Allows download at faster speeds and no additional download costs.
If GPS is also enabled, device tries WLAN first if no connection, GPS.
I have managed to receive e-mail on the device, but still haven't been able to send.
