On Friday I had a little problem with my printer. Having used it successfully in the morning, I found later in the day that it would not connect 
and kept asking for a "secret passkey". being out in the field, I was reduced to giving out paper receipts from the order pads. When I returned home and read the SAM handbook I found the solution, so for anyone who finds themselves in a similar position your "secret passkey" is the last four digits of your printer serial number on the back of the printer underneath the barcode
