I have SAM and the printer, and don't know how I managed without it... it's brilliant. SAM seems quite cheap to use. My bills are about £12 per month (without using the phone). It's maybe worth asking your FSM if you can have SAM without the printer to start with, if the £300 investment is putting you off having SAM. As advisors with printers move on and leave Hillarys, there may be a market for 2nd hand printers.( On this site?!) :(Or the price could drop on new one's.I believe cheaper one's have already been found on internet sites that should work with SAM You can do everything to process the orders, except give the customer a printed receipt. Just give a manual one, and get them to sign that. (I have done that without any problems when my printer hasn't been able to get a signal) It does seem that if we want to work for Hillarys, we will all need to get SAM before too long.... and as we're self-employed they have the choice as to whether they keep us on or not! (And we have the choice to leave)... Sad, but true........

not if sure they will feel about people suppling their own printers.
Too late for me anyway.
It wasn't any cheaper when I took it on and I had a pretty good look at the time.

I am about to go on the training for sam but I a reluctant to do so . Is it true the sam device is free and we only pay the £317 for the printer?

Yes.... you just have to pay the monthly bill which is about £12 in most cases (unless you use it as a mobile phone too). I bought the printer, but now wonder if I could have managed without it, and just had the SAM.
Enjoy your day in Nottingham...... (ask someone to post us some 5" weights would you!! lol)

PS to Aikido.... welcome to the forum. You'll love SAM when you get used to it..... most of the advisors are surprised at how good they are!

Regading the price of running SAM, I use mine as a mobile phone as well because I dont like carrying too many gadjets around with me, and my monthly costs have never been more than £18

I also use as phone, calls to Hillarys number are at a special cheaper rate. Still have my personal mobile so when not working don't have to take work calls.
I started using SAM as soon as my area went to booking fits at point of sale. As far as I'm concern wouldn't be without it. Yep can be improved but it makes my life easier and I'm all for that.
I think you need the printer, it looks very professional, customers are impressed and why after investing in SAM end up giving the a written receipt/quote. I was in IT and personally wouldn't consider buying printer elsewhere - if Hillarys supply it then they have to make it work, who need more agro in our job ?

I'm not SAM endowed yet, mainly due to the cost. I've been with the company over 10 years, and now, to make them more admin. efficient, (no doubt saving them a mint), I am expected to buy into this system! Don't get me wrong I think it's an amazing idea, but I feel that Hillarys should supply it FOC. It's been intamated that those that don't come on board with it, will have to go! If the the company are prepared to let my conservatory training, awning training and my wealth of experience and customer base evaporate, for the cost of £317, then I think it's a pretty poor show! Is that not a rather low price to put on my head. What do other advisors think? There's got to be over £300 worth of training there alone! As a part time agent, I've got to sell quite a few£'s worth to recuperate that £317--all to make Hillarys save money! (And me of course) Just thought I'd throw that one in to see the response.

Well, if the number of Advisors continues to fall in my area, they'll end up losing the FSM too. He won't have anybody to manage! Interesting to hear you now pay for training though. As you say ---win win!!!
