Web Blinds - (find their site by entering www.hillarys.co.uk!) - are offering 30% off all rollers and 20% off EVERYTHING else. Delivered in 5 days. Sounds good...... 30% off their already much cheaper prices than ours! It would be interesting to know how their sales are going compared to Hillarys..... ________________________________________ The first example I tried. Lineas Pinks 100x100 supplied and fitted free by Hillarys in 2/3 weeks =£89 Linea pinks 100x100 supplied by Web-Blinds in5 days = £48.30 Where would you buy yours?

In this area I have to compete against 13 (14 if you include Web Blinds) other companies. Most of the time I find I am the first company that quotes for the customer because of Hillary policy of getting us in within a day or two of the customer calling. This has the result that I leave a lot of quotes while the customer has to see 2 or three other salesmen before making a decision and giving the opposition the opportunity of undercutting us (which isn't hard) even though I explain our "Price Promise"

UKBlinds advertising 3 for £99 verticals up to 8ft. wide with 5 year guarantee.
So what next for us? Free annual clean and service?

A little bird (Ex Hillarys agent) told me they are going to do 3 For £99 but the good news is they are as miffed as we are. 5 year guarantee can you imagine the service calls! For all its faults Im sticking with Hillarys. I"d rather fit 3 rollers/verts then 3 verts if Ive got to charge £99

If you mean UK Blinds, they're already advertising 3/£99 in Hampshire. I think up to 8ft. wide. Remember they use a plastic headrail, never seen it but sounds cheap and nasty, and many of their fabrics are reject stock from America (better than ours then!)

When i applied to UK Blinds before I applied to Hillarys,
You had to do your own Advertising but the Gross Nargin was higher than Hillarys.
I wonder what the Gross Margin is on the 3 for 99 for UK Blinds.
Another interesting thing at the time they had same Directors as Carolona Blinds

Ive heard its £25. Like you say, their agents pay out for every thing. In fact they actually buy the Blinds cost from UK BLinds. I know of 3 Ex Hillarys agents that have gone over to them in the last 18 months. It seems slightly drunk off agents become the competition

Most competitors in the north west are supplying the old Junior headrail with this offer. It only has a control chain to turn the louvres & customer has to walk the blind across the window with a stick. It can only be specified with left or right draw options as it can't work as a split draw. Hillarys offered this system last around 18-20 years ago so sounds really up to date for our competitiors-as usual. Remember there will always be competition but cheapest is not always best. Also never pre judge the buying powers of your customer, they will almost always surprise you if you are confident, professional in approach & positive about your product & finally always ask for the order. This is one of the most neglected areas in sales-if you dont ask you dont get!

The ones I have seen was a length of cord, with a plastic acorn.

Probably cos the Arena rep had run out of sticks lol

Just quoted for 4 wood venetians, 35mm
Hillarys price £1098 including fitting. Aspen Blinds £460 including fitting. Dartford Blinds £537 plus fittings
and our blinds would not line up in a bay window, and never mind the quality.
Told customer that we are changing suppliers this month so will see him again in a few weeks. As the new wood is out in some areas, does anyone know if there is a differnce in price against the old wood and is the quality of the delivered product any better.
