Roof Blind specialists - how often, when tensioning 25mm pleateds, has the grub screw come out of the filo nut and is lost without trace. This tiny component is almost impossible to find, even feeling around on hands and knees on a wood or tiled floor, never mind in a conservatory full of furniture or on carpet.

So we all carry spare filo nuts, don't we ? We acquire our spares by cannibalising DOR blinds or, sometimes, by actually getting them sent specifically as a spares order. A few weeks ago I did just that, received a bag of filo nuts and put them straight into my spares kit.

So yesterday I lose a grub screw - no problem, go straight to the spares kit, open the bag of filo nuts and - guess what - not a single grub screw in any of them. Yes, they had supplied me with spare filo nuts without screws in them !!!

Laugh ? I could have cried !

Mike, do what I do. I have a magnet attached to a brooch pin (available at craft shops) pinned to my shirt. When removing the grub screw I put it on the "brooch". No more lost grubs.
