I have spent some time trying to find a UK supplier of the recommended tape measure with the window, and have found one: www.raitechnical.com/Strangely, they are also based in Nottingham! Unfortunately, the price is higher than Hillarys, but delivery would almost certainly be quicker. I can't understand why these aren't more widely available. Does anyone know of another supplier?

Maybe because it is made in France. Try a day trip over and try the local hardwear outlets, and you can stock up the wine cellar at the same time. Maybe your accountant will let you put the expenses down to tax relief.
O ordered one by telephone to the service centre, as I dropped it and broke the tape. Was delivered by post within a few days. So if it's cheaper, through Hillarys, why not. I know there is the proper form to complete and post in, and that may be slower, but, hey, it worked for me.
Actually, thinking about it, it may have come on my next van, but still within the week.

I have had 6 of these tape measures over the years and Not paid for any! Lets face it they can not last forever ! The problem i notice is that after a year or two's use the locking mechanism can fail . I usually ring in , and hillarys supply a new one F O C . And so they should ! And of course its sensible to have a decent spare one to hand!

One I dropped down a grid and the other I put on my car bonnet by the wing mirror whilst loading rubbish into my car and forgot about it. The first I remembered it was when driving at 70 mph on the motorway and watching it fly off, luckily missing loads of other cars. Pitty I cant put my wife and two kids on the bonnet as well. ;D Red
