Fitting all day today,so no sales calls figures for the week 28 leads 8 orders 28.6% conversion Beat that!!!!!!!! Well I had 11 leads, 5 orders including 1 self generated for £30 left 7 quotes, hang on, door bell, well there's a surprise, courier delivery, for the fit yesterday. I suppose better late than never, won't be an invoice though. And one customer called this morning to go ahead, so that makes it 6 orders from 11 leads. thats 6/12*100 = 54.5%. Plenty of availability and wasted slots though. Total sales, £639 so AOV = £106, and commission will just about pay the petrol and leave enough for a fish supper tonight. Well, better go and do the 3 scheduled fits for today, no sales appointments, and I will see if I can get the customer from yesterday as well. TTFN.

Fitting all day today,so no sales calls figures for the week 28 leads 8 orders 28.6% conversion Beat that!!!!!!!! Right i will expect your f.s.m. to pull you to one side, and show you how to convert more, you obviously cant sell up from 3 for 99. we have given you 4 for 129 for gods sake, and you still cant do it. how the hell are Hillarys expected to make money if you dont put enough orders in, so that they can fine you for your mismeasures and d.o.rs. They will also loose out now on the chance of fining you £250 when Mrs Scrotum, from nuts street, puts in a claim for her nuts stained carpet you have put your mucky tool box on. this is just not good enough. You should be doing 50 leads a week as well, you do not give enough availablity by the looks of it. You should be doing at least 5 calls between 6pm and 9pm. They have all these leads going astray, the call centre are working their backsides off getting you these good quality leads, in all the nice run down back street slums. You should also realise that any lead booked into your diary is within the 30 mile radius of each customer scenario, so why you cannot produce better figures than that is beyond me. You had better book your ideas up, or they will set on 5 new advisors in your area. Dont you know they can earn £3,000 per month. they have applicants jumping out of the woodwork, dustbin men, road sweepers, toilet attendants, the local tramp. Apart from the tramp, they all earn just £5 a week less than you, so when they see the opportunity to earn what you are earning they will bite your hands off. Oh and by the way, 3 of your orders, the colours are out of stock, we have a backlog on the wood venetians, all your headrails on that big 4 for 129 order are also out of stock We have a query on one order, can you please spend the next 3 days trying to contact the service centre to sort it out, a highly trained member of staff who knows what they are talking about will be only too glad to help. Also sorry to have to tell you, we are refunding that massive order you spent 2 days fitting, and 6 trips to customer to sell to, because she has decided she doesn't like the colour. So thats £450 that will be coming off your next commission statement.... Whats that ,? it allready has, and we haven't told you !!! Any way as you obviously need training up. , the fresh from university graduate, in sales, F.S.M, will come out with you for the next 2 weeks, to show you how to deal with, verbal abuse, accusations of all sorts, how to quell the pit bull, which way to wipe your feet on the way out of customers house, so that you can achieve 98% conversion, make your £3k per month, but more importantly, make loadsa money for all the vultures at hq, who have invested their hard earned money in the shares of our caring company. Get out there tonight, we have told Mrs Smith you will gladly fit her blinds at 9pm tonight. she would be getting them for 50% less otherwise. Oh and bye the way, do you know anyone who might want to be an advisor, you can then take them out and train them up to take your work. Dont you realise by not selling enough you wont get your bonus either. You have to sell £2OK, ER NO, £30 K, ER MAKE THAT £45K, TO GET YOUR 1% BONUS. We like to thank all hard working advisors who have helped to build up the business over many years. thank them for their loyalty, helping us out when your colleagues leave us in the nuts. So come on buck your ideas up, you are priveledged to be working for us, or with us, or for yourself but with us, or is it for yourself but with us but for us, f**k knows !!! Now lets think of another way we can shaft you >> until next time. _________________________________________ Reply by JOY. Brilliant post Farmer. It just says it all!! Hi Farmer,
Great satirical, angry, frustrated, honest and justified post. And yes you are right............this is a lonely job if you are full-time, working alone, and trying to make an honest buck to the best of your ability, whilst representing the Hillarys ethos all the time.
This Forum justifies itself for this reason alone, enabling us all to feel that we are not alone and allows us to vent a few frustrations, plus positive views, ideas, advice, flipancy, et al, too..........
Good on you!!
No apologies necessary.

Have I your permission to send it to RK and JR? ? They should really read it!!! Please feel free to do so Joy. Seriously though, thats what it feels like to me at the moment. I try my damdest to work the proper way. Unfortunately it appears that Hillarys are that big now, the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing. we then have to suffer the consequences. This is why we have all the negative postings on here. (thats what its for ) Indeed the job has so slightly drunk off my local colleague, he has just been to my house to give me all his orders from the last few days, as he has now packed in as from today. He is finishing his fittings next week, but has asked me to see that his orders are seen through to completion. he doesn't even want the commission from them. what does that tell you. On another point, Again been chatting to the guy who jacked in Hillarys a couple of years ago now, he is doing very well, got 5 staff working for him now, and is about to become a limited company. so it proves it can be done. He got talking about fitting for customers. Because he knows how Hillarys work obviously, he knows what pain organising fittings can be. My argument with the fitting side of it has always been that- if you order a t.v...bed.. furniture, or call the gas man etc, they just tell you anytime between all day basically. Why is it with our job we are expected to fit at the customers conveinience, usually weekends and evenings. What he tells his customers is, the free of charge fitting is between the hours of 9-5, mon-fri, he then charges a premium for fitting outside those times.. food for thought. Also, still confused with the new system of service call charges. got to go out to refit a roller that has fallen down ! in a school. It will mean taking out my 30ft ladders as its a very very high window. Not a straight forward job. Because it is in a school , i can only go in their dinner hour, have to have all the safety gear, etc. Now whilst i am trying to manouvre these ladders around the cluttered up school premises, and i knock something, or someone, and they say i am negligent, will i have to stand £250 for doing someone a good turn. i say good turn because all i will get for doing it is the £15. And i have to invoice the school for that. Hillarys basically dont want to know. I'll do it, dont get me wrong, but look at the senarios this issue throws up. should i have said bollocks to it and walked away. its not under guarantee.

I think you should walk away. Under the EU "working at height directive" ladders are classified as access equipment, and must not be used for working from. You will need to hire in access scaffolding or cherry picker. I doubt you will hire this equipment in for your £15. If the school are insisting on safety gear, then I would think ladders are out or do you mean step ladders?

This is another example of how we use 'good will' & a caring nature to do these jobs. We all realise that taking on a job like this can ultimately promote our business ( in this case a school & its staff & parents ).
However, due to the uncaring nature of Hillarys & the potential to not supporting you should anything go wrong, both you & I see ourselves looking for the possible outcome of taking on such a task!!!!!
Yet another plan from Management back-firing & causing possible long-term damage to the company reputation & future business.
We ALL need to think hard before any job is accepted & be prepared to walk away ... even for a small risk ..... the outcome could be catastrophic to your income!!!!!

I know what you mean by walking away. I just found out that another agent didn't bother to get back to a school I went to as they wated 15 windows in clouds, all just under 3m wide - alot of work going all over a school out of normal hours at £60 a blind !

That is an example of deciding whether to take the job for £130 commission or whether the job is a potential waste if out of hours to fit & the very high possibility of DOR's!!!!
£15 however for a service call perhaps is not worth it!!!
Mind you ... this is another annoyance ... why should Hillarys tell customers it will cost £15 for a call out?
I'll charge £20 minimum when I can or more if it is over 30 minutes.
Perhaps it's Hillarys under- valuing it's sales force once again??

No they are proper 18foot extension ladders. As usual I have been taken for a mug, I will do this one , but its the last time. trouble is, i fitted the blinds a couple of years back, and i did it as a favour for a neighbour who works there.

Yes, very definitely you should only offer flame retardant fabrics in schools. Also applies to hospitals, and to many government and local authority buildings.
Of course, this leaves a problem because we don't have a single flame retardant fabric which meets the other criteria that schools are usually looking for - i.e glare reduction (computer screens), and nightime privacy / security. I have been asking for years for a flame retardant version of Acacia (Rollers and Verticals) in half a dozen contract colours to meet just this market, but as usual the suggestion falls on deaf ears. We the advisors are the best people to tell marketing what the customer needs, so why don't they ever take notice ?

I don't think Hillary's are very interested in developing a true blind for commercial ,public buildings etc because whenever I have asked for guidance to help a sale ,the response as been nil. at a meeting I asked why we weren't aiming for hospital, schools etc developing ranges for these specific places especially since the government was spending all our money on developing these places. I suggested offering a ongoing contract to new places so we could have continuity of business repairs/replacements/renewals etc. the response was a great big fat zero and they class themselves as a market leader so short sighted.
the latest thing for hospitals is fixtures and fittings to combat mrsa including curtains and blinds . why are they so slow to pick up on these things its not for want of trying by advisor's.
