SAM is simply an application / program which runs on the Pocket PC (computer) Phone (device) that you have in your possession.
Usually it will communicate with HO via the GPRS data connection over Vodafone. This is at our cost, and although not that expensive is still a cost.
If you want to stop the device/phone communicating and running up your bill, put it into flight mode. Flight mode means it will not use any radio communications as is required by airlines if you have a mobile phone on a plane, but it will still function as a computer.
If you have a PC connected to the internet via broadband or even a dialup plan, you can make your device and the SAM application talk to HO using your internet connection, i.e. For FREE.
Simply install the charging cradle for the phone on the PC, all the software is included on the CD you got with the phone.
Then when your PC is on and your phone is in flight mode, and placed in the charging cradle, it will talk to HO over the internet connection of your PC, and thus cost you nothing.
I leave mine in flight mode whenever I am not working, and it happily gets updates of diary, availability etc at no cost.
This is especially significant for those of you like me that have been asked to download the new pricing information in the email from IT today, over GPRS I don't know what it would cost, as I did it over my internet connection for free.
I have also emailed IT to tell them to let people know about his cost saving option.
Cheers

I have tried this method of downloading updates but just keep getting the message "unable to find page". Are there any tweaks that have to be made in order to download through the PC
