Done a dummy sale on SAM to see how the new prices compare. 170 w by 140 d price table b symphony, old price = £296, New price £132 and Acacia is the same price. No wonder we cannot discount these anymore, we should blow the competition out of the water now. Try it and see. I'm not so sure. Quoted a customer 2 middling size windows and small patio door today in acacia - £520! Had to drop to £300 to match local competitor. £520 might be good for a jaquard like symphony but is expensive for acacia

It dosent matter, you will always have to discount if another company has been in before. The market trend has changed, people want a window covered and dont care where they get it from. To the average person, a blind is a blind at the end of the day, and will get the cheapest price.
Over 3 years ago, it was like taking candy from a baby, I was getting my 3 leads every evening and averaging over £300 per order.
I have now given full availability, and have had 3 leads this week, today being Wednesday, and nothing booked in as yet for the rest of the week.
Is this company going down fast or what.

So old price table 7 is the same as old price 2 on the new price book. Makes you wonder.
Who makes the prices up.

Today sold £4.5K all from new vert book. only way I could do it was to use a combination of Beat-a-Quote and Finance agreement. Have been sceptical of Finance before but if its going to get me more days like this then its worth the extra 15 minutes it takes to fill form and get authorisation

With the FEW leads coming through I'm starting to get a picture of how the new pricing is going!!!!
Price table 1 Classic - seems spot on! Price table 2 Premium - Mixed results but mostly negative! Price table 3 Deluxe - Still NO HOPE!!!!!
Conservatory offers are a little too low & the fabric choice is awful.
The '3 for' offers ( mine is 3 for £149 or £165 for 89mm! ) is still having a detrimental affect on business as people are reading it as though ALL fabrics are in this offer!!!!
Hillarys!!!! Please advertise the Capri in 89mm as the offer on the '2 for £175'!!!!
The 'trade up' is still a big jump!!
If Hillarys think we are going to get the business without further discounts then they will be very disappointed.
How is everybody else finding it???

With somebody at CLG actively telling customers to ask us about the 3 for 99 offers, as has just happened to me again this afternoon, its no wonder we can not sell up. Red

If Hillarys think we are going to get the business without further discounts then they will be very disappointed. How is everybody else finding it??? I'm finding it tough. No way can i take orders without discounting, around my town. i am getting hammered by a company called Mike goldrick Blinds who use the Hillarys trade companies fabrics that are EXACTLY the same as ours.(Arena that is) On a recent 2 grand order, he quoted just a grand. So if you thnk i am running around NOT discounting, think again hillarys. I have a family to keep, and you are not tying my hands behind my back. I know what the mark up is on most of the products, so before you take food out of my families mouths, stop putting on the expensive buffets at all the meetings etc. Trading is tough in retail at the moment, but come on, give us a chance. If all the new advisors are to work to this new no discount mullarkey, how long are they going to last. Anyway before i set off on one again........... I am just saying it is tough out there at the moment, but have got through it before.

Just what they have done.. please let me know, you know who I am , you can do it privately if you want. are you a sales man, accountant, the main man or what. Dont tell me you are not still making a decent profit out of the order i took from goldrick, due to the customer being loyal to ME, yes ME.. Look we dont go out there giving the blinds away, we want to make as much out of the job as you do. So in anticipation of your answer.......................................................................................................................well..........................................................................where is it..............................................................................................................................come on........................................................................ Thought so..............stop treating me/us like bloody school kids...............................

I am finding the new "at home " mag a bit of a hindrance.
Nice pictures of great big blinds, with the lowest possible price printed under them!
In my opinion, just a little misleading.
Who ever sold a curved blind in a bay window " from £99"! Of course the customer always misses the "from" bit!
All this in alot of cases gets us off on the wrong foot when trying to sell to a customer who feels conned.
I understand the need to try and generate leads and that it can be a bit of a balancing act, but I also feel sometimes we get it badly wrong. Nothing that couldn't be healed with a few marketing people stepping into the real world and trying to sell some blinds!
However, they will say their job is to bring in leads, in whatever way they can, even if these ways become increasingly desperate. Its left to us advisor's to take all the flak that these underhand tactics generate.
I guess thats the name of the game at the moment.
Don't forget, Hillary's is a bit of a cash sponge, with alot of unnecessary layers of management to fund.
Something that would help me, is my ad in the paper being right. For the last 2 years + it has been wrong, but as usual any effort to put it right falls on deaf ears!
I know Russell said some think about tweaking ads etc, maybe he could put his methods up on here.
