I had a quick look at some of the recent comments on the 'other' forum and they seem to be getting very worked up about having to offer interest free credit, as if it's a scheme that Hillarys have introduced with the sole intention of winding them up.
Do our competitors offer interest free credit - yes ! Do customers want interest free credit - some do ! Is it a sound way to convert a quote into an order - of course ! Does it give us more prospect of selling up and increasing and value - sometimes yes !
Disadvantages - sure. About 15 minutes longer to complete the sale because of form filling and credit authorisation. Slightly later payment of commission after fit. More paper to carry in the sample bag, and the cost of a phone call to the credit company (use the customer's phone).
On balance, I would much rather have it as another sales tool than not, so I'll leave the Luddites complaining until they vanish up their own backsides.

I totally agree. Interest free credit is one of the best tools in our bag!

As we all know the handles in these things are a pain. I always order white (or brown) 'S' shaped pleated roof brackets with the order. You attatch the venetian bracket to the 'S' bracket and Hey Presto! the blind clears the handle. Is this the type of post Joy was referring to ?

I have lost count of the conservatories I have had to decline for wooden Venetians as the Usb brackets are not made for them. It is about time an extension bracket for wooden was introduced. Brazil, nice to see a more useful posting. Red

Beware wood venetians in conservatories. I have done 3 in the last year or so, could not talk them out of it, and all had problems with warping slats and quite rapid fading due I think to sun and excess heat .Must admit that was before we changed timber types. I think other have had the same problem.

Take your point about UEBs but the beauty of the S bracket is that you only have one screw to assemble it as opposed to 4 with UEB. Much faster!

I have always found the best way is to only use the bracket and do away with the extension part. You can then screw the actual venetian bracket directly on to it with one screw. I have fitted loads like this and never had a problem. Red

Basil , We do have alot to thank you for really.
You might remember earlier last year when I first came across the yahoo group ( thanks Joy ), it was a breathe of fresh air to be able to share things with others in the same boat.
I had been using forums like this one for a couple of years and was much more use to the format than a simple message board that dropped comments off as new ones were posted.
Hence - this board was formed.
Joy did a great job of getting the news out ( together with others I might add ) , and it's become a force.
So, I'm glad to have you around- your background speaks for itself and I hope you find the forum as useful as others.
Regards
P.
