Following my first post where I upset some of you, and was accused of' joining in late' after founding the original Yahoo forum 4 years ago. I have trawled through of the many sections of this site, and what an ordeal that was. It appears to me that many of you have lost sight of (or never realised) exactly what we are. We are all commission only direct sales people. When I started in this profession 24 years ago I was selling replacement windows. We had to go out in all weathers knocking on doors to obtain our own leads. It was tough, but we valued our leads and it made me realise how lucky we are where Hillarys actually get you into the house. All we have to do then is sell, how bloody hard is that ? If you cannot sell get out and make room for someone who can. In closing I have yet to find a positive posting from the Italian sauce man !

As a professional salesman I can understand your misunderstanding. I made the decision to join in and maybe help other people with less experience. On the other side I make a d**n good living out of Hillarys and do find this forum a great source of amusement when TV is lacking. Joy, do you accept that you are nothing more than a commission only salesperson with no rights whatsovever against Hillarys ?

did you fit the windows as well?
did you carry out repairs to them?
or did your responsibilities end once the customer had signed up?
everyone can simplify their jobs, if you think of yourself as a salesman fine and dandy, others would consider themselves as more and offering their customers more.
i myself am purely interested in what appears in my bank statement each week, if that means being called a salesman, fine. if someone calls me a blind fitter, i really don't care, i'll have been called much much worse, their money looks good in my account all the same!
if your biggest problem is what you think we are then life is rosy!

Once I had sold that was it . I then spent 13 years in insurance. If you cannot handle a cordless drill/screwdriver you should not be doing what you are doing and constantly moaning. You lot do not not know that you are born. You pick the street and choose the odds or even numbers and lets see who gets the most leads. Put your action where your mouth is.

brazil some of your comments are quite patronising i earn more than you out of hillarys my conversion is higher and also my self gen how do i know this ???work it out but your dob helps ! we are not all negative but sometimes we feel aggrieved and use this forum to voice that, thats why the forum is here for good and bad .without THIS forum things would not be moving forward the way they are youre postings are full of how great you are but you hide behind youre name why not join in and give us the benifit of youre fantastic skills selling and running forums we wait in awe  wow just read all of youre posts brazil you also inspired this forum etc youre talents amaze me what else have you done |

Like brazil I spent a few years firstly as a salesman and then as an area sales manager for the whole of southern england. I ran canvassing teams ,prospected and pushed like hell for business wherever possible even to the extent of being thrown out of peoples houses. I then realised that this is not the way to earn a living if you have any scruples at all and went back to a salaried management position. For all its faults Hillarys provides all of us with the opportunity to earn a decent living in a reasonably ethical manner. Brazils comments remind me very much of the arrogant type of person that is unfortunately what gives direct salespeople the bad reputation that they have. I personally consider myself to be running my own business for my own benefit and where ever possible I will do this in a way which shows respect to the customer so that they are happy to have you back for repeat business and are more than happy to reccomend you to others.

I have been a salesman, sales manager and sales director in a business to business environment. As a salesman I was carrying targets of up to £3 million a year. I mixed with many very professional salespeople, the best ones all had two things in common - they didn't have to boast how good a salesman they were and didn't criticise other salespeople.

Brazil Its not a question of who can sell the most. We all know that Hillarys is a good company to work for, We just want to make it better, for ourselves and Hillary's. If Hillary's prosper then so do we and vice versa. You may have had a raw deal in the past with cold selling, something which I find abhorrent and ethically wrong, but you are in the present now. Working for a company that has prospered by way of its advisor's. Please do not deride the efforts of people to further the company and themselves. Life stands still for those that don't move forward. Yes, you are right, there has been a lot of bitching on here, but that is just pent up frustration coming out of some people. That is part of what this forum is about. Do not put yourself outside of these people. Instead of criticizing them come up with a few good ideas to, as you say, help. Red |

Gentlemen & Ladies!!!!
Can you not see what Brazil is trying to do here??
This one appears to be be an opinionated 'Loud Mouth' that beats his own drum to his own melodies!!!
I would suggest that Ignoring 'IT' would be the best course of action.
There are many out there that have probably forgotten more about this job or 'Selling' in general than 'IT' could ever know.
Why would something like this appear from nowhere & try to spread discontent amongst all of us here??
We are yet to learn ANYTHING of value from this one .... alas, I fear we NEVER will!!!
As I have said before there is so much good coming from the creation of this site that we are all here 'battling on' & trying to improve the quality of our working life!!!
Lets all keep united!!!!
