Red, I work SAM very similar to you, but always put no braid and shape 2 - it gives you a higher value. If they say yes to the price, offer them any shape they want. If they choose 1, put through shape 2 then phone in and change it - or drop the price depending on your conscience.

Another feature of the post-code search which you may not be aware of, is if the customer's christian name is shown then that was a customer who ordered from Web blinds. So watch out for 'I just need a quote and can you leave the measurements'

Yep thanks for good tips from Blindsmansam re finding other recent customers and from Pyramid that christian name = web blinds. I'm with red, tried the tip and started to get wound up seeing old customers of mine appearing at bottom of list and I haven't seen them so don't think will look in future but will watch out for the christian names appearing.
I've been using shape 1 on rollers but not quoting them till they've told me what they want but good idea to use shape 2 and give em a price earlier on then if they are ok with that they won't ask me if shapes are different prices.

I notice that some of you let the Customer chose Fabrics while measuring.
Do you point out what is on promotion or do you let them choose non promoted Fabrics and achieve a Higher order value,
Also how can you put sizex of several Windows into sam without rest of details.
I was told you are suppose to be able to walk round with Sam and put it in without Paper.

With 'whole house' orders it is better to use paper, measure all the windows with either the customer with you or on your own. Often customers will take the book with them as you go around & they can decide there & then if they choose to. If they don't choose staight away you can move on to the next widow & measure that. Doing this helps the customer relax as you don't appear to be trying to 'Sell' to them. Once measuring is out of the way you have all the time to talk with your customer without breaking off to measure another window. There is however, no 'hard & fast' rule to this. As sales people we should always be flexible & adapt to the situation ... This is a major 'flaw' in the SAM system, ..... too ridged & inflexable. Relying totally on SAM will make you just as inflexable & therefore miss sales opportunities. You can input onto SAM later if you want to either at the customers home or at yours. Remember to take the security number off the back of the credit card if you are doing this at home. ( Sorry if this is obvious! ). With regard to sales fabrics I do one of two things. 1. All 'sale fabrics' have '2 for special price' stickers on them or '3 for £329' etc or '20% off' & so on. ( older Advisors will remember these!!! ) I print them off on my PC. 2. I tell customers to choose what they want & I'll give them the best deal I can for them. If they choose a non-sale item in price table 7 I'll offer it to them at a price I feel I can get away with. e.g. "This fabric is not in the sale but I'll include it in the sale price for other fabrics in the same price band" I can then opt for 50% off or 2 for £ etc. The customer feels good ... you have a sale.!!!!!!

My diary for today showed 5 leads but the sam equipment only showed 1 for late pm, as I only use the sam I did not attend the morning leads and was called by customer services to ask why I was not attending these leads(the customers were wanting to know where I was) I told the cust services that my sam equipment only showed 1 lead and was told I should check on my e-mails as well because sam can and does make mistakes Why do we have it then? ?

I've had this happen too.... anyone else? Of course you will not neccesarily know! You may have just thought it was a quiet day. I now always read (and keep) the emailed diary. It came in useful as proof when I attended a call where the customer was out, and central lead told me it was in the instructions to phone 30 minutes before arriving. It wasn't! (Not on SAM or the emailed diary.) But, some naughty person added that info after the event to avoid a ticking off..... and to make it look as though it was my fault. Not very nice of them.. .but at least I had the proof. ;D
