I wonder if all the 70 odd advisors they have set on, are o.k with having to make a frigging blind before fitting it.
They make it sound a piece of piss taking the old split ball off. It is not as easy as they say, having had to do it on the system before the grub screw.
Lets hope at our next get togethers there are new advisors there, lets put the question to them, How are they really doing.
3 for 99 and having to repair them as well !!!!!!!!
I just cant believe this latest move.
Although i have only had 2 rails to fit, It hasn't been a problem for me.. YET.
Simple thing to do is now d.o.r everything.
does anyone know how U.K Blinds operate, commission, etc, etc,
I know local company to me dont operate like this.
Then again, they are not run by cut throat business men, who dont' give a stuff about us mere mortals, who are holding up the whole outfit...
ah well, as they say life is too short, just another smack in the mush.

I believe UK blinds have a much higher commission rate than us, but have to pay for their advertising and liveried van. The 5 year guarantee is with the salesman, not the company. Probably because none of them last 5 years.
In this area, they're still advertising 3/99 but no one else is. Imagine selling at this price then giving a 5 year guarantee, which you pay for, not the company.

The uk blinds man in Huddersfield goes around in a escort estate, has been with them for years, and although he pays for his adverts, seems to do allright. So much so, that his son now works with him. They are a constant thorn in my side. Trouble is, now out headrails are the same crap as theirs, dont expect me to bleat on about how good Hillarys products are meant to be. They are not simple. I wonder how uk blinds go on with their rails !!!! Its now plain and simple to me..... get out of it what you can......

The Hillarys Update of 13 April provided usefull information on changing a split ball and it was nice to get some components without having to chase them for weeks. However, changing a split ball on the factory bench probably bears little resemblance to doing it on the customer's window cill. All those that I have had to change have been crimped so tightly that they cut into the cord. Their jaws have been closed so tightly that it is almost impossible to loosen them without cutting the cord and, in my experience, the method shown in the update simply crushes them more tightly onto the cord. It is no wonder that Advisors dor the headrails, the alternative is almost an impossibility. There is no doubt that the split ball is a retrograde step and needs to be discarded as soon as possible.

Remember these balls are not new. They were used on the headrails prior to the grub screw variety. I have also noticed that the factory are applying so much pressure that they cut into the cord, increasing the liklyhood of a guarantee replacement within the year of installation. I had one on a replacement rail for as 3 4 99 prior to Christmas, I hop it lasts because I had no intension of DORing it for another 10 mile round trip at my expense.
However, from experience, I found applying pressure across the split, opens it up, to allow a small screwdriver blade to be inserted, holding the ball in pliers, twist the blade, to open it further, and it should slaken enough to slide on the cord.
Since the instructions came out from Hillarys, I have fitted 9 new style rails, and not one had a problem with the balls, where before almost every rail needed to be adjusted (although I didn't necessarly do it, especially on 3 4 99s), so maybe production have now got it right. So far only white rails have been supplied to me, beige and brown are still the grub screw style, for how long, I don't know.

Does anybody have any split balls left.?? If so can you send them back to Nottingham as I had a split bunch today without and balls. So much for tracks being tested before wrapping. Also had 5inch rails for 3.5 inch job. Have the inmates taken over the asylum. Another freebe for Hillarys MM
