Hillarys web site

I had an email last year ( I can dig it out if you like), saying that Web-Blinds and Hillarys web sites would be totally independant from each other from January this year, just as soon as the sites could be redesigned. A couple of weeks ago I asked what was happening about it, and was told there are now no plans to change anything (I can dig that email out too!)

PS.. Web-Blinds are now selling "off the peg" blinds on their/our site.

The fact that Web Blinds is splattered all over the Hillarys website is a damned disgrace, and an insult to those whom Hillarys ask to sell their product .

It may only sell £1m per annum, or whatever, but effectively the savvy clients are given a price list.

I have had a case this week of a savvy client with WebBlinds site on the screen in his study when I went in to measure it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made no comment.

At price time they hummed and hawed, and wanted a Quote.
He had seen the printer, and was expecting a print-out
hopefully with the measurements on.
I gave him the price verbally, and wrote it on my own manufatured Hillarys visiting card. ( Who designed the Company one and filled the back of it with a picture? TW*T)

" Will you be posting the quote?"

"No, better than that, there it is" I replied.

"I was told you would leave me a full quote by the Head Office when I called"

"How full do you want it" says I ( Writing 6x Chrome 25mm venetians on the card)

"I want the sizes and the delivery time and confirmation that VAT & Fitting is included."

So I wrote on the card, 2/3 weeks from order, VAT&Fit included.
" What no measurements? " I want the measurements"

"Why"

"Because I want to know they will fit"

"If they don't fit when they come on order, then you don't get them, fitted and I rush you a replacement--but it never happens" ( I lied!)

"I still want the sizes"

"Fine, it will print them on the order confirmation, how do you want to pay the deposit?" "

"Don't you understand I WANT THE SIZES" ( Loud)
and I want them NOOOWWW!!""

At that point I looked his wife straight in the eye, and said
" I am not deaf, Noone speaks to me like that--Good Bye"

..and legged it.


Back in the van I thought I really should have changed the sizes 2cms short on the width and 3 cms short on the drop, but no Sod Him.......

I work for Hillarys for next to nothing, Why should I work for clients for nothing as well.

Bear,
one thing I've asked for on SAM suggestions is the print out to show room rather than dimensions.
Something like Bedroom (back left) rather than 125.5*100.2 would mean more to genuine customer, and screw the shysters.
If you like the idea, get your vote registered with whoever is dealing with SAM at the meetings (red, I think)

I agree , shoudn't have the sizes on a quote just the rooms/product/colour.

I would have thought changing quote print out to show location rather than dimensions would be a relatively simple, low cost exercise. Think I'd still like dimensions on order copies though - don't know why, just feels right.

I have had this done to me several times, one was told to get me out to measure and then order on Webblinds by our own service center. I no longer leave the sizes. Only a hand written quote and my telephone number.

Definitely do not leave sizes, I never do.
I think we probably should not have them on the order either, as it will not take the punters long to figure they just need to place an order and then cancel the next day, to acquire the sizes.
Just tell them our measurements are technical stuff for the factory
