Hi Guys, this may have been asked before, if so, sorry for repeating but 1. When ordering an Awning does it have to be exact measurement of 250 or 300 etc or can it be 280 or 330 for example, can't get sensible answer from HO? 2. What is the optimum fitting height to give required fall on the awning eg when fitting to bungalow or single story extension etc so that you know if gallows brackets are required? Thanks in advance to all you knowledgable people. Cherokee.

HI i am almost positive that you can only sell in 50cm measurements. As for the height the minimum is 230cm nearly every bungalow i have done has req Gallows brackets because of the guttering. I always take a photo now and send in with the order. Hope it helps.

Not true - I have sold Awnings with exact widths to suit the fitting position. The 50 cm increments are only to determine pricing so, for example, if your sell an Awning at 470 cms wide you charge it at the 500 cm price. Always remember, however, to allow 30 cms clearance either side to ensure that the Awning can be fitted securely.
If you need a definitve 'horses mouth' answer on this then the best person to talk to is David Kent.
Projections, however, are fixed and can only be 200, 250, or 300 cms and must be at least 50 cms less than the width of the Awning to allow the arms to retract, so a 330 cms Awning would have a maximum possible projection of 250 cms.
I agree with the previous posting that 230 cms fitting height is optimum and that this can cause problems particularly with bungalows, so in such cases a photgraph is always a good idea.

Hi all
Shadewell can make an awning fit almost anywhere. If the customer wants the projection longer than the width it's possible but will cost the customer a great deal.
We've also ordered an awning with only 10cm space available to fit. I think shadewells minimum is 3cm but you'd need to double check that figure.
Best thing is to take your measurements and a photo then send to head office so that shadewell can then confirm that they can make the awning.
K ;D

Does any one out there have an up to date awning price and spec list they could either fax or e mail me. I just did my first awning of the year and realised my price list is dated Jan 06. Also, is 250 cm the maximum projection an awning can be done at. This one is 450 cm wide and customer wants at least a 3m projection but without up to date info I could not tell him.

Maximum projection is 3m, that's available on 350cm wide and above. I've just ask if a deeper projection can be done as a special, Mick is checking into it and coming back to me, I'll post the answer when I get it. PM me with you fax number and I'll send price list, has projections on it.

If I had done that via head office I wouls still be waiting in a weeks time.

Yep that's what this site is for, us advisors working together not arguing with each other.

I've just ask if a deeper projection can be done as a special, Mick is checking into it and coming back to me, I'll post the answer when I get it. Please do ! I've also got a customer who wants 3.5 metre projection (two awnings each 5.5 metres wide - nice order if I get it) - but as you've already asked Mick Pollitt the question I will await your outcome rather than bothering him with the same question.

Our awnings are now made by Shadewell. Having met the owner a couple of times, he is very much of the "if you can sell it, I'll make" approach. He has a much wider range of awnings available, I've just sold a 5.5mt wide one with no centre support. Didn't faze him one bit. They also have a range where the projection can be greater than the width, one that fits on to a conservatory roof, and even one that can be mounted on the side of a caravan. I'm going back to a customer this weekend with the roof one, 8.5mt wide, 2.6mt deep to quote her £4,600 So don't walk away. Take pictures, dimensions and ask the question

Hi Hereticus The answer from Mick was that they can do a 3.5m projection with a 4m width and a 4m projection with a 4.5m width. Additional cost is £150 and they can still have the free sun/wind sensor offer. I would think therefore you can have your 3.5m on a 5.5m width but would double check with Mick as I was specific asking for 3.5 & 4m widths.
