Beat a quote last night for 22 tab blinds for conservatory.
Got to self generated lead, to quote for the tab blinds. We have had Sandersons in, couldn't get rid of him, he was here 4 hours. When he told us price we nearly died. Customers first words to me.
Me thinks i am on a winner here.
They choose Crush Linen..
Er that will be £3,980 please.
Whatttttttttttt!!!!!!!
you are only £350 CHEAPER THAN SANDERSONS.
Anyhow we have had a quote for the same fabric for less than half that.....
I then introduce price promise.
Their quote was from APPEAL BLINDS of Bristol. £1,360.
If you do it for £1300 the order is yours. We trust you 'cos you have dome work for family and friends.
Now the fabric to me looked EXACTLY the same as ours.
Do Arena supply Appeal Blinds, Bristol i ask.
Have i done right beating this quote by so much.?
looked on their website, it looks a prety impressive company.
The bumf that they left the customer was pretty extensive, a big A4 folder on care instructions, showing them how to clean the blinds, (dunking them in the bath ! ).
I have got the order, still a decent earner. BUt, how would i have justified the price difference if i had been asked.
this is a serious question, to Hillarys, ie Ross, if you are reading this or anyone else who has come aross the same thing.
I mean over 2 1/2 grand difference it beggars belief.
I can show you the samples they left if you like..

I've had same problem on crush, local company half my price. Apparently there are different versions of this fabric available. The "cheap" version only goes through rollers once to get the crush effect, the dearer ones 3 times. I think I got this from Mark Lucas, but not postive as over a year ago. Still can't see it accounts for such a big price difference though. Local company mentioned are no longer active, at least in this area. They tried to be a TS, only doing pleated
Hillarys & TS use the same fabric.

farmer!
I wouldn't worry!!!
Are YOU happy to do the job that price?
I wouldn't even think that this would be questioned!!!!
To be honest, I always discount ALL pleated fabrics by 25%. In fact, I'll need to discount by 30%+ just to be in the running at the moment.
Even the Verticals price list 'C' is in the bin!
I know I keep repeating this ... but .... if the job is worth it to you at 'whatever' price .... then you go for it!!!!
Hillarys are more concerned with 'turn-over' than anything else!!!
And GVM!
Don't take that nonsense about 'Crush' going through the machine more because our fabric is superior!!!! ... It's more Hillarys spin!!

I always do look at what i make out of it, and usually do as you say. I was just wondering what i would have had to have said if the customer asked how i could justify being able to do it. I mean over 2 grand difference, cant all be down to our far superior product (not) can it. Now this is where management should come in to give some directive. so if you are reading this management, and no i am not moaning, like you have think i aleays am. Answers please...........
