A portable Data Storage Solution is what everyone needs. One of the easiest options for this is the external hard disc drives. But these systems may also develop faults and crash overtime. So the loss of data becomes evident. One of the most important alternatives that are available in the market today is the RAID device. They offer you the convenience of portable data storage along with high levels of security. RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives. They contain many independent hard discs that are combined into a single unit. The data stored is divided into equal parts and replicated across the drives. An important feature of this data storage solution is that it allows you to increases the storage capacity as you need. You will just need to buy a new drive and attach it to the RAID system. Just like every computer device, the RAID system also has some problems. One is that even though it is expandable by the addition of a drive, we have to store the whole data to another place before the new device is added. The removed data can be stored back after the attachment process. Another problem is that once a RAID storage pool is created and data is stored inside it, it is not easy to expand it even more. Similarly the data loss problem still persists in the RAID systems too. If any one of the drives is damaged, we have to replace it immediately. If not the chance for an additional drive failure increase and this can cause the loss of data.
