As a supposed " Golden Coast" benefiary I have been struggling for leads, etc., since the summer. Until this time I had considered myself "bullet proof" (almost) from the tales of woe from those of you wiping your feet "on the way out", although I've had my share also but always compensated by the "normal" appointment to follow. Having been asked by my FSM to make myself more available for the Xmas rush my reply was " fill my current availability and I'm yours". So here's what happens....................... I'm full-time and available for 52 slots per day 9-12, 14 etc., but since the summer I've been scratching my arse for much of the time. Today I update SAM only to find that I've got 13 appointments tomorrow...............slots increased per hour, with no discussion but..............eff all for the rest of the week, and there's no way I can complete these appointments........ geography withstanding............. but.... being the way I am.............I'll go for it .........and absorb the nuts along the way (Customers and Hillarys). Am I a fool or is there a tunnel at the end of this light? ?

I'm available for around 60 appointments per week!
I can get leads early in the week with around 10 - 14 leads each day on both Mon/Tues. After that ... Nothing!!!!!
But in answer to Kakalankas question ... 13 leads in a day can be done, but you need to pace yourself & remain relaxed.
My FSM rings me to ask for more availability & to work all weekend.
My answer was 'No!'. & that they should fill up my existing diary first before I think of giving up my family life!!!!!
Because of the stupid increase in advertising during the summer when we are all taking holidays our areas 'lead to diary' went up. What do they do?
They recruit another Advisor.
It's quiet here at the moment with fewer leads between more Advisors.
This is now the worst run up to Xmas with Sillarys I've ever had.
Full time with this company for me is now coming to an end!!!!

Forced availability. By doing this Hillarys are putting the noose around their own neck. And it does not matter if you go along with it or say no l am not doing it. lt gives them a degree of control over you that changes your status to employee.
So Hillarys.........Why have you not paid my tax National insurance pension holidays sick pay
Do l have to go on.

I like most are haveing the same conversation with my fsm,but mine let slip that it affects him financially if i have a lead time over the prescribed 4 days.probobly a sob story just to get me giving more time. 1 call yesterday had called in the day before for an appointment and got it so were is the problem he was pushing us to sell, sell, sell in november nevermind the fits they can be done in dec when we have fewer leads. isn't it about time they realized we dont get paid until they are fitted, and with this attitude of putting the fits back only pi**es the customers off and also puts them off hillarys.

I am afraid FSMs have only one short term goal. Lead to diary, so that they get their monthly bonus. It does not matter if they bring in too many advisor's, give your work away to other advisor's, whether you are doing OK or not.All that matters is lead to diary and the end of the month bonus.Very short sighted system if you ask me and one that can only lead to problems, for customers, advisor's and Hillary's in the long term.

I am fortunate inasmuch as having a salesman for an FSM. He has the experience of knowing the disastrous effect that 'working the diary' has on conversion rate. We all want large order values that will be fitted. These take time to achieve. You cannot rush in, measure and say ' heres the price, do you want them ? ' and on to the next one. Your presentation goes out of the window and you turn from a salesman to a 'quoter' Are there any salespeople on the board at Colwick these days ? Me thinks not.

Remember the "sales habit" training that produced THE HILLARYS WAY? Follow the steps, and it takes 40 minutes with the customer. But you can only use the Hillarys way when it suits Hillarys. When it doesn't, rush it - you've got 45 minutes to get to the customer, quote and move on.

[ Risman is a salesman hes sold his soul now he will sell the company on Don't think so, uncle H. Based on his weak presentation at the road show, he wouldn't earn a living selling. Selling the company on would be the best thing to happen, we've had our worst period ever under the current ownership

Perhaps we need Stuart Rose, he sorted out the mess M&S were left in.
