How are others getting around part-tiled windows? Especially profiled tiles? I measured one last week, and the only thing I can think of is a 10mm batten on the wall, with another 9mm batten on that one down as far as the curvy ridged tile, then another bit of 9mm below the ridged tile. That gives 2 battens and 19mm to hide, I'd need loads of filler rather than caulk. What's the solution folks? You're all cleverer than me - apart from Russell of course

It's the dumb blonde from Wiltshire here! ;D Just sold some shutters this am including one for a bathroom........IL profile but to be fitted as close to edge of recess as poss. She had tiles in the recess and was happy to get them removed........I was gonna suggest Big Al could do it but before I could mention this she said she would arrange for this to be done before we install! Wish all customers were as easy as this!!! Was great seeing all you "dinosaurs" at MK on Wednesday. Obviously us "dinosaurs" aren't how Hillarys see the future!!! Hehehe!!!! ;D K ;D

Oh K, you say the nicest things to me My customer won't remove the tiles, it's IL framed and close to window. Tiles are quite old, there's no way I'd ever be able to remove, cut and refit tile.

just had 2 quotes come back, one for 3 basswood, absolute doddle in to wood frames. Other is top track, from memory around 4mt wide, and floor to ceiling. Big room, and the whole end wall is glazed, more like a conservatory side - that'll be a challenge as the ceiling is very old and uneven. Might offer to share it with local guy as they're going to be d**n heavy to lift in to place - and he's better at caulking than I am ;D

I've just had a 24 shutter quote come back, and several of them have this problem. Customer is a nice bloke, but likes things right, and when he's paying £7k so he should. He also runs a conservatory company, so get this right and could be more work coming along for me

Hi BVM, not a shutter specialist myself. Not sure how ridged the tiles are or how good your DIY skills are so here goes. Instead of using both 9mm & 10mm battens why not use 18- 20mm batten and cut a notch out of the batten to fit over tiles, therefore caulk is only required where the batten fits against wall/tiles.
This may be quite a lengthy process if required on all 24 shutters, perhaps a more cost effective would be to scribe a small plywood template around the tiles (hopefully they are all the same shape) then ask your local timber merchant to cut all timbers as to the template for you.
Hope this helps.

Thanks maxximus, but my woodworking skills are limited. I'd be OK if it was metal, but wood I struggle with. My concern is messing it up, as the battens match the shutters. The tiles vary, some are flat, some heavily ridged, one is a granite worktop which extends up the wall with a fancy trim. Two others are over profiled skirting boards, and one window is triangular shaped, so I think I've got the full monty in 1 order

My days on shutters are over. The job I sold in Sept last year has finally asked for them to be removed as the job has still not been rectified. I asked for help from Shuttercraft but no one seems to know at HO what technical help is! Waited since Jan for a new set of doors & cannot blame customer for pulling the plug after such a long wait. Lost comm on over a grands worth of business & another potential sale plus around eight hours labour & travel back & forth. Till the backup is put in place the shutters can journey south! I've had enough & I will be charging for my time for removing em!

I understand you would be waving good-bye to a hefty chunk in commission, but it may be in your best interest to walk away from this one. A lot of time and effort on your part, the possibility of a unhappy customer together with little or no support/help from Nottingham, is it worth the headache.
One last suggestion, many years ago I had a customer who refused to pay me for fixing timber battens to allow for blinds and curtains to be fitted, customer complained to h/o who informed me that if I had told Hillarys what was required they would have given customer a price for the extra work involved. No idea who they were going to employ to carry out this work, or if this service is still available, but it may be a way out of your dilemma.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone out there now how to realign the screen on SAM. I'm having problems with my old device.
It's happened before, so I now it's poss but I've always gone thru tech support for help but as you know their shut today!
I've soft reset a few times but the screen is still not responding to the sylus.
I now I've got to tap start, settings, sytem, screen and align screen but so far by pressing buttons on the device I've only managed to get to settings.
I need to tab across to system but for the life of me can't find the right way to do it. Could be because of the wine last night and a slightly fuzzy head!!!
If anyone can post the correct keys to press on the qwerty keyboard I'd be really grateful.
Thanks
K ;D
