I am quite sure everyone is sick and tired of explaining to customers that the offers are for colours they don't want, and have to pay more for larger windows. They also assume that its stuff that can't be sold anyway. People read what they want to read, and listen to what they want to hear, so 50% is what they expect to have. Right or wrong, thats is what's happening.
If they want to do it, do it on the entire range and get done with it. We are still on average 35% more expensive anyway.
I know it gets us customers, but there is not a lot to choose from. The call centre make things worse when they assure the customer can have anything.

Unfortunately, Hillarys advertising has always sent the wrong message to the public.
We used to advertise the '2 for one special price deal' like 2 for £175 for Capri. Customers always read it as '2 for the price of one.'
We used to have to show the price breakdown e.g. £87.50 each. This in turn caused problems because even if a window would have been £160 list price & a side window at £90 the customer would say we were too expensive on the small window when shown as £87.50 each. This would result in perhaps the husband coming home seeing it written down on an order & ringing up to cancel because we looked expensive on the smaller window.
'50% off' offers are the same!!!!
'50% off' the most expensive fabrics.
Ads read as if '50% off' all products etc.
This latest series of advertised offers are as we all know - an insult!!!

I would like to thank Sillarys management and their Creative Department for dreaming up the 129 for ?4, enticing customers to make the call, allowing CLG to give me an appointment today.
This morning, entered the front door, butt jointed laminate flooring with 1cm gaps betwween each board, customer shows me into dining room to measure first window, no carpet, son and his mate nursing hangovers (or worse), not easy to measure, window cill piled with clutter.
Next, the cust. shows me two seperate windows in the bedroom and asks ''Is this classed as 1 blind or two?'' 10 out of 10 for trying me thinks, ''I'm afraid its 2 blinds'' was my reply and proceed to measure both windows, fighting my way around the dirty tissues left on the floor by the bed (oh the joys this job brings now).
Blind 3 fairly straight forward apart from customer's daughter still in bed.
Customer enquires about the 129 for £4, I think to myself I will have to use all FSM training to avoid having to come back to fit this order, quote the colours available remembering not to say that we now have a white fabric, thankfully she declined the other three colours on offer.RESULT.
Luckily it was pouring with rain this morning so I was able to clean my shoes before getting into the car.
