On the eve of the Reading Seminar, before I enter the fray, I found something faintly lighthearted to amuse you all. I was pondering as to why I chose the pseudonym Hereticus when I registered with this forum. I have previously explained that it was simply a distinct but easily remembered word, being the name of one of the tracks on my son’s bands’ recent CD. However, today I read the CD cover notes and the bye-line introduction to this track, written by the vocalist (a theology student at Oxford) explains :
- this song is an attack on those imperfect angels, self declared messengers of God, who would use religion as a tool to gain power and wealth, manipulating it to suit their own ends and destroying their religious teachings whilst using it as a weapon of fear, both towards their own followers and their metaphorical neighbours, towards whom they show little love.
If we substitute the odd word we suddenly have
- a comment on those imperfect managers, self declared prophets of the Hillarys way, who would use isolation and division as a tool to gain influence, manipulating it to suit their own ends whilst using it as a weapon of fear, both towards their own advisors and their metaphorical colleagues, towards whom they show little love.
Sorry – it tickled my perverse sense of humour so I couldn’t resist ! I don’t really see them as the enemy, and hope that tomorrow is the first step towards a future where we all work better together.
Best Regards to all, Mike
